I think everyone picking their two favorites from the other participants (not picking any of their own), then making a figuring out which suggestion of each participant got the most votes, then making a poll with the most popular entry by each of us (thus having eight entries, one per person) seems like the best idea.

I.e. I pick my two favorites from void_nothing, two from SecretInfiltrator, two from Feyd_Ruin, etc. And everyone else doing the same from everyone except them selves would work.

Using myself as an example, it might get broken down like this:

Shattered Realm - 5 votes
Cave World - 7 votes
Five Families - 2 votes

Thus my entry in the final poll would be Cave World as it is the clear winner from my entries. Since everyone votes on two entries per person, it would always end up a total of 14 votes for any given person. Should any entry end up a tie, we could have a vote off for those two entries.

Then when each person has a clear popular entry, it would just be a matter of doing a Top 8 vote.

BUT if we did 2 votes and skipped to the top 8, it's still just as quick?

I do, however, directly vote we don't make any more test cards yet. We still have a lot of preplanning to do, and I don't want that to become too skewed or influenced by just a couple random early ideas. Other people's interpretations will also be different, and we need to really flesh out what we're doing and agree on before we jump into card design.

That's a good idea! I like going to the top 8 from tallying all the votes to keep things quick. I agree with Feyd_Ruin about the test cards as well, we're still a long ways off and I kinda jumped the gun by making those, since they don't really have any bearing on what the set will actually look like after design and development.

Btw, I don't know what role on the design team I'm suited for. I'm probably most comfortable with Set Design. I also have a weak spot for precons. I can put in some work maintaining a set skeleton.

Speaking of which: what's happening right now is some form of runoff voting. But there's other voting systems too, some of which might be more appropriate: for example there is approval voting wherein everyone simply lists (with no ranking) all the options they'd be happy with, and once everyone's done that, you have an option the majority are happy with. There's a video about those voting systems here including what they do well and how they can break down or how strategic voting can undermine them.

A tiebreaker in which everyone votes seem to be the best option.
