In order to better meet the needs of the Custom Card Community, we have developed more robust systems for displaying your card creations. Our mana and symbol systems, as well as textual card displays, have been built from the ground up explicitly with the CCC Community in mind.

More systems are planned in the future. These are simply the first step in our plans, but hopefully they will already allow you more control and customization with a stronger presentation of your creations.

This guide is thus divided in three:

[‏‏SYM] and [‏‏MANA] Symbols
The [sym] and [mana] tag systems allow quick and easy use of magic-related symbols. From all the various mana costs, to card type symbols and DFC symbols.

[Cardtext] Cards
The [cardtext] tag system allows you to show a textual card block to represent a card.

Other Tags
Although Mana, Sym, and Cardtext are the core components for CCC, there are other, smaller, tags that we've added specifically for CCC.
To the beaten, the broken, or the damned; the lost, and the wayward: wherever I may be, you will have a home.

[‏‏SYM] and [‏‏MANA] Symbols

We have created a new symbol tag system in order streamline the entire magic-symbol process efficiently and add more control. Every symbol is saved as an SVG, allowing the symbol to scale beautifully at any size. This scaling is done automatically - every symbol will perfectly match the existing line height, so by shrinking or expanding the font size, you are also controlling the symbol size.

Most basic symbols can also be handled by the [mana]-translator tag. By wrapping a mana cost inside of a [mana] tag, the software will automatically reparse this into a series of appropriate [sym] tags for the same level of control, but allowing you a quick shorthand for ease.

Not all symbols can be used inside of the [mana] tag, and some of the symbols require slightly different formatting in order for the [mana] translator to properly determine what you mean. In example, the symbol for Green-White Hybrid is [sym=gw], but if you put this in the middle of a mana cost: [mana]1GW[/mana], the [mana] translator will assume you mean 1GW. As such, you need to write them in the traditional format for it to know the difference: [mana]1{g/w}[/mana]=1{g/w}.

Below is a list of all symbols, their definition, their [sym] code, and their [mana]-translator code, if available. There are a great many number of symbols, and we will inevitably add more as they arise.

[‏‏CARDTEXT] Cards

The [CARDTEXT] tag allows you to show a textual card block to represent a card. Much of the card block is controlled by parameters, with the oracle text and flavor text coming from within the tag. Flavor text can be added by using the [FLAVOR] tag within the [cardtext] tag. It will thus add a a divider, italicize your text, properly resize, and contain the text.

The [cardtext] tag is a bit of a beast, but once you can remember the parameters, it becomes a fairly strong tool for showing an easily understandable custom card. The format is simple once you're used to it.

Code: Select all

[cardtext parameter=value parameter=value (and so on)]

(Card Text)

[flavor](Flavor Text)[/flavor]

[/cardtext]
Parameters are essential, as they control and populate all of the values outside of the card text. Below is a list of each parameter, what it represents, and an example value.
ParameterCard RepresentationExample
SizeSmall or large card frameSmall
ColorCard's ColorBlue
NameThe name of the cardMoat Piranhas
ManaThe card's mana cost in text form1U
RarityThe card's rarityRare
TypeThe card's full cardtypeCreature — Fish
ArtistThe card's artist, if anyRudy Siswanto
DesignerThe card's designer, if anyYour Username
NumberThe card's collector number067/280
PTThe card's power/toughness or loyalty3/3

A few small notes:
  • The stabdard colors are White, Blue, Black, Red, Green, Gold, Artifact, Colorless, and Land
  • CCC has the extra options of Pink, Purple, and Yellow.
  • The MANA parameter should be formed exactly like a [mana] tag.
  • If an artist and a designer are both supplied, only the designer will show currently.
After filling out the above parameters, the only thing left is to add the card text and flavor text inside the [cardtext].

Example usage:

Code: Select all

[cardtext size="large" color="blue" rarity="Common" name="Moat Piranhas"
mana="1U" type="Creature — Fish" artist="Rudy Siswanto" number="067/280" pt="3/3"]

Defender ([i]This creature can't attack.[/i])

[flavor]"Come on, it's not even that deep!"
—Gorin the Brazen[/flavor]

[/cardtext]
Result:
Moat Piranhas
1U
Creature — Fish

Defender (This creature can't attack.)

"Come on, it's not even that deep!"
—Gorin the Brazen
