I tried looking everywhere for an answer to this situation, with no success.

Suppose there's a Corpsejack Menace, a Master Biomancer, a Renata, Called to the Hunt, and a Hardened Scales are on the field. I cast Mowu, Loyal Companion. What's the maximum number of counters it will enter on the battlefield with? My specific question is if the replacement effects of Corpsejack Menace, Hardened Scales and Mowu apply to all the effects that grant counters (in this case, Mowu would enter with 14 counters), or they just apply once after taking into account all the other effects first (in this case, Mowu would enter with 10 counters).

Thanks in advance, Rules Gurus! :nerd:

The important thing to keep in mind is that replacement effects only apply to an event once. And, in this case, there is only one event: "Mowu entering the battlefield". This is important because it shows that everything in your situation only applies once so there is no "Mowu applies to Scales" and then "Mowu applies to Corpsejack", etc.

With that being said, you have a number of options depending on how you order the replacement effects. Since Mowu doesn't enter with counters and Mowu, Scales and Corpsejack only apply if something is already getting counters, you need to apply either Renata or Biomancer first. Since these numbers won't change, the order of these two doesn't matter when trying to get the most counters. To get the most counters, you would do the following:

Apply Renata
Apply Biomancer
Apply Scales
Apply Mowu
Apply Corpsejack

Because everything adds the same amount each time except for Corpsjack, we want to apply Corpsejack last. So, you get 1 + 2 + 1 + 1 to give you 5. Then, you multiply that by 2 to get 10 total.

To get the *least* (if you wanted to do that for some reason), you would do the following:

Apply Renata
Apply Corpsejack
Apply the remaining 3 in any order

This ensure Corpsejack multiplies the least amount of counters (1) and then the rest just add on top of that as normal. So, this gets you (1 * 2) + 1 + 1 + 2 or 6 counters total.
