With Zaxara, the Exemplary creating a 0/0 token then putting +1/+1 counters on it, I was wondering how this would work with Primal Vigor or Doubling season?
Would I get duplicate tokens with the +1/+1 counters (double in fact) -OR- would it not work and they are just 0/0 and die straight away?

This is a highly favorably interaction. You will create two 0/0s and then put twice X counters on both of them. This is because the ability that puts the counters on sees that the ability actually made two tokens but it doesn't care that it was written assuming there is only one it just knows to put X counters on the token(s) made previously.
