Hi, for example I have zo-zu the punisher in play. Opponent cast scapeshift sacrifice 8 lands to get 7 mountain and a valakut, the molten pinnacle. Would my opponent take 16 damage from zo-zu ability, or can they kill zo-zu with the valakut trigger so they take no damage from the him?
Accepted Answer
All triggers are put on the stack in APNAP (active player, non-active player) order. Assuming that the Scapeshift is cast on your opponent's turn, they'll place their Valakut triggers on the stack first (choosing targets as appropriate), followed by you putting Zo-Zu's triggers on the stack. Zo-Zu triggers will thus resolve first and deal your opponent 16 damage. If they're still alive, they may then resolve all of the Valakut triggers.
As a side note, even if Zo-Zu is killed, your opponent will still take the damage, since the triggers are already on the stack.
