Hi, my opponent has a devoted druid as only creature in play. I cast Kaya's Guile.. choose opponent sacrifice a creature and exile target player's graveyard. Can I choose to make opponent sac a creature first then exile the gy, so that the devoted druid would get exiled?
Accepted Answer
Within any given ability (such as the spell ability here that starts with "Choose two" and ends with "gain 4 life"), you follow the instructions in order, as detailed in this rule that peteroupc cited:
See also this note from the Lorwyn FAQ:608.2c The controller of the spell or ability follows its instructions in the order written. However,
replacement effects may modify these actions. In some cases, later text on the card may modify
the meaning of earlier text (for example, "Destroy target creature. It can't be regenerated" or
"Counter target spell. If that spell is countered this way, put it on top of its owner's library
instead of into its owner's graveyard.") Don't just apply effects step by step without thinking in
these cases—read the whole text and apply the rules of English to the text.

* The chosen modes will have their effects in the order they appear on the card.

Although you can choose which modes Kaya's Guile will use, you can't choose the order in which they should happen (C.R. 601.2b, 700.2a, 608.2c, 702.41a). Thus, for example, when that spell resolves, if only the first two modes of Kaya's Guile were chosen, first each opponent sacrifices a creature, then all cards are exiled from each opponent's graveyard, and not the other way around (so it will generally work in your favor anyway in this scenario) (C.R. 608.2c).
Note that none of Kaya's Guile's modes target anything (they don't use the word "target", for example) (C.R. 115.1a, 115.10a).

Why bother with mere rulings when so many answers can be found in the Rules?
