I don't play a lot of them but I do cycle Irrigated Farmland and Secluded Steppe a lot. I don't think I would likely ever pay 3 for that effect tho

Re: Varina, Lich Queen
If you're still running terrain generator I'd cut that. Turn one fetch for the ub dual is going to be right a huge amount of the time. It smooths your draw and is painless. I could surely be wrong but I'm pretty confident most decks with solid but casual mana bases will want one of these as a turn o...

I think you want the blue black one but not any of the white ones, in this deck. Just my opinion though.

It is really embarrassing that they haven't figured out the commander card lag on mtgo yet like why make it hard for people for no reason?

Re: Ephara, God of the Polis
I've been interested in trying Charismatic Conqueror -- seems worth thinking on, even though it's a bit of a punisher card that gives a lot of choices, it helps answer haste creatures which are a huge problem for Ephara.

I think in a casual environment it's likely to outperform Rhystic Study so probably really good. And easier to manage, you just do it.

Re: Thrasios and Tormod's Field of the Dead
Another Goose Lands SpecialTM. Too lazy to plot out the manabase right now, but you get the idea. I think that looks really close to how I'd lay the deck out if I were going for optimal land playing. I do like me some Wayward Swordtooth though. I don't know that I'd play quite so much interaction b...

Re: Thrasios and Tormod's Field of the Dead
I've always liked the card Titans' Nest but could never really make it work. Is this where it finally finds a home? Making a zambie and +1 mana is great on paper, but so far my list is a little light on generic pips, so I don't know. "Combos with Capsize " is fun for me, maybe. Yeah I mea...

Re: How do you approach deck building?
This is approximate and sometimes I mix it up a little but this is my basic process. So I usually have a handful of cards I'm really interested in plus a commander (or two). Then I make a list of all the cards I might want to play, buy the ones I don't have, and then make a pile of usually around 15...

Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord is probably the most golgari of the golgari options, and also is pretty good.

Re: The One Ring
The lack of on-board interaction and all-purpose counterspells in most decklists is a huge vulnerability. It makes it an interesting axis for attacking the meta IMO. I find this little tidbit interesting--because it's something I've been saying and experiencing for years. My CEDH decks have tended ...

Re: Thrasios and Tormod's Field of the Dead
Yeah for the most part if I am not playing a staple it's because I'm trying to keep the power level down. I think Wilderness Reclamation is okay cos it's only one untap but Seedborn is out of hand lol I do need to think about the aristo stuff. My experience has been that ashnods and field tends to g...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
Somebody was moaning about having to mull 4 times in a game. Here is a direct quote: "Ug, I run 34 lands, how can I only draw 2 landers?" Dude, your EV is 2.4 lands in a starting hand, the odds of you drawing a 2 lander 3 times in a row is ~10% XD run more lands folks. Yeah I mean this wo...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
yeah interestingly $5 is about my number too, maybe $10. I rarely buy anything that expensive and just trade old stuff as much as I can when a new set comes out I usually buy all the cheap stuff I want, and then buy foils for Ephara of anything specific, and sometimes I'll get one or two mythic stap...

This deck is actually really sweet and I'm sad I didn't look at it when you originally posted it. I saw the link you posted in @Dunadain's thread and saw you had updated it in your deckbox but not here. Wouldn't mind seeing you post some insight into your updates. Hey man thanks for asking about it...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Helm of the Host
So very tired of how many decks become "how many copies of my commander can I make?" tribal. :D This started the parade of that stupid non-legendary rider.
I wonder sometimes if they will eventually just get rid of the legend rule in general and invalidate all that crap.

Hey guys how are you using Phyrexian Ghoul ? I have found it dissapointing without Rooftop Storm . I don't like rooftop storm, but maybe I should give it another chance. On the other side i got a copy of The Meathook Massacre and i love it, very versatile card. And i haven't seen it in your decks. ...

Re: Is Old Busted Still Busted?
Consecrated Sphinx still ends games. In general a lot of the old busted stuff is still absolutely the knees, people just don't know about it as much so it's not part of the collective unconscious. One of my favorite "staple" cards that is no longer relevant is Progenitor Mimic -- and yet,...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Heroic Intervention
I really like Heroic Intervention as a card. Stuff that rattlesnakes sweeper decks (turning their sweeper into a wincon for you) are a really fun play pattern overall.
I find it a little unfortunate that they tend to reward counterspells as a control mechanic, but such is life.

Re: Was WotC's embrace of Commander a good thing?
powercreep is not designed to increase accessibility to the game I *generally* agree but to quibble a bit, making old cards eclipsed by new cards does in some sense devalue old cards, which makes the game more accessible after a fashion. That said, the way of doing it with: the $40+ chase mythics t...

Re: The Gaffer - White Lifegain
I think this is a deck where all those artifacts are a red herring and you're better off with the fetchland + Cosmic Intervention + Brought Back + Lotus Field package. The catchup ramp like Loyal Warhound is mostly on dudes and helps trigger Soul Warden effects. Instant speed token production is lik...
