Re: Ghired, Conclave Exile - Triple Dipping Naya Lards

I've gestated on ONE for a while now and am still unsure how to proceed. A time-honoured tradition is to air thoughts in the primer, as that helps iron out the details. Especially here, where I've got the highest likelihood of someone actually chiming in :P Mondrak, Glory Dominus is the obvious all-...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

I don't think we're headed for a full-blown undo, as shown in the Aftermath teaser . Whether this means that walkers are deprived of plot armour is another story. The closest I got to caring about MTG lore was when WAR rolled out and I realised that it was the culmination of quite a few years of set...

Re: Patron of the Orochi - The Cockroach Tron

Hello again ;) It's not uncommon for people to be wired similarly when it comes to commander choices. I remember reacting to Sythis with a nod of approval, but as I already had two enchantress decks on the go at the time I sat that one out :P You got a list for that Nissa somewhere? Maybe there's so...

Re: Feather, the Redeemed - Weaponised Jankmas Incarnate

Glad to hear you're on board with the tweaks. Just taking inspiration from stuff is often correct, feel free to keep the Sad Robots if you wish :P I remember when about half the players rotated in the group I was in back in 2015, and the resulting alternate meta had me pulling multiple changes to a ...

Re: Daxos the Returned - Enchantment Shenanigans Galore

More sets! I apparently forgot to pop by with J22 thoughts, and Daxos was the only deck with anything resembling a consideration. Would you like your O-Ring to die in a wipe with your creatures? Then do I have a card for you in Chains of Custody ! I misread Planar Atlas at first and was giving it a ...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I didn't even notice Rhuk, Hexgold Nabber get spoiled, but rarely have I been so baffled about an ability. In a world where Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist why would anyone want to play Rhuk? What are you supposed to do, pre-equip to an Ornithopter to prepare for him entering the battlefield? Bro he...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

The tag is [leak] . So far the coolest card is Mercurial Spelldancer . If you jump through enough hoops, you get to do something that you'd typically have to pay quite a bit more mana for to achieve statically. Plus it comes with unblockability, so it might find some homes based on that too. I also ...

Re: Daxos the Returned - Enchantment Shenanigans Galore

Yeah, the friendly version is weaker. You get to lose the nonbos between spell throttling and beastly card advantage, but to compensate you give up access to powerful slow-down pieces that would help the game go long enough for Daxos to set up properly. And you don't get to zoom along that much fast...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Daxos the Returned

Daxos has been my pet deck since the legend's release in 2015, so I feel I'm pretty qualified to opine on the commander :P His design is great. It's a simple concept, really - play enchantments, be rewarded for it. However, you're missing green, so you can't rely on the standard enchantress refuels....

Re: Ghired, Conclave Exile - Triple Dipping Naya Lards

Dockside is a respectable form of ramp, but very far from the "consistent fast ramp right out of the starting hand that enables a T3 Ghired followed by a beatstick and copier" sequence I'm looking for here :P

Re: Ghired, Conclave Exile - Triple Dipping Naya Lards

Yeah, it's got upsides, and works as a curve topper a little akin to what I used to do with the goodstuff legendary angels. It feels kind of weird to consider it in a deck that isn't focused on going wide due to its classical infamous application. I'm curious if there are ways to provide the deck wi...

Re: Ghired, Conclave Exile - Triple Dipping Naya Lards

So in summary they both win the game in that situation, one costs six, one costs eight. Got it. :P Hoof's main drawback is costing eight mana. He doesn't curve naturally like all the tier one beefslabs do, and his scaling isn't even that crazy. That said, the fact he's got haste and the payoff is ET...

Re: TropQuest, vol. III - Silly Simic Pile (Eligeth/Gilanra)

Let's act on some of the comparably recent musings! Out: 1 Ethereal Forager 1 Faerie Artisans 1 Lurking Predators 1 Snow-Covered Forest In: 1 Joint Exploration 1 Galecaster Colossus 1 Spectral Deluge 1 Tangled Islet Games being completely interaction-free have their drawbacks. Someone lands a Platin...

Re: Feather, the Redeemed - Weaponised Jankmas Incarnate

On similar grounds, Balduvian Rage is a secret sorcery as it can only target attacking creatures :P Somehow still has a higher include rate on EDHREC than Heal, which is amusing.

Re: Feather, the Redeemed - Weaponised Jankmas Incarnate

BRO Change Yes, I totally tactically delayed this update post so I could cover J22 in the same post :P Out: 1 Wall of Omens In: 1 Loran's Escape Loran's Escape is about as auto-include as cards get here. One mana, fantastic blanket protection, and it somehow scries on top of that. It's kind of funn...

Re: Patron of the Orochi - The Cockroach Tron

BRO has an above average number of cards worth thinking about. Awaken the Woods is neat with its ramp scaling, but the fact it makes summoning sick guys is not that great for both resilience and sequencing in the late game. Haywire Mite is a very respectable piece of goodstuff, with the upsides outw...

Re: Ghired, Conclave Exile - Triple Dipping Naya Lards

BRO notes are... nonexistent. Not a single card really caught my eye during spoiler season. The closest would be Cityscape Leveler, and that's not that close as I feel we've got a bunch of better options for accomplishing this sort of thing already.

Re: Daxos the Returned - Enchantment Shenanigans Galore

BRO notes! The most viable card in the set is Tocasia's Welcome , and I had it pencilled in as an include for a while. And then I realised that Idol of Oblivion is actually kind of better, as Welcome won't draw multiple cards most of the time until it doesn't really matter, and Idol sequences better...

Re: Keskit & Toggo - Junkyard Animatronic Tatyova Knockoff

I did this swap when DMU hit but forgot to propagate it here. Out: 1 Plumb the Forbidden In: 1 Garna, Bloodfist of Keld Garna is a combination Zulaport/draw depending on timing of death, so that's interesting. Plumb just never really sparked joy somehow, the maximum overkill of the other Reprocess v...

Re: Patron of the Orochi - The Cockroach Tron

40K/UNF continue the inactivity show. Sporocyst is kinda cute, a Wildest Dreams for ramp, spend eleven mana and get a cantrip. Cool, I guess. I had a game recently where the CLB includes really shined. Chased out a pretty quick hasted Patron, ripped Majestic Genesis , flipped Ring of Three Wishes in...

Re: Daxos the Returned - Enchantment Shenanigans Galore

40K/UNF notes! Defenders of Humanity is a reasonable goodstuffy include due to the board in a can nature. However, given Daxos's mana sink powers, I'm just not that excited by it. Neyam Shai Murad could technically be used for political shenanigans, but in practice would end up acting as fetch ramp ...

Re: Ghired, Conclave Exile - Triple Dipping Naya Lards

I'm not that keen on the card as it takes forever to get that bootleg Kiki from it. Completing the beef + copier pairing out of nowhere and immediately threatening impactful combat is a good way to keep the opposition uncertain, and the saga just sits there, telegraphed as hell, and when it flips th...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I don't like these flash-forward mini previews. 40K hasn't even hit the shelves yet and here I am being bombarded with teasers about a product 1.5 months away. It adds to spoiler fatigue by reducing cohesion in the hype train. Let sets have their moments in the sun, dammit :P That said, this new set...
