Re: Wow @MTGSally really did go off a cliff since our move here.

Sally has certainly been on a crazy ride. Can't believe it's been almost two decades since it went up/News went down. God I'm getting old. I don't often speak of the founding of Sally with it being long irrelevant, but from one creator to others, I'm thankful for Feyd and everyone who carried the to...

Re: Commander Jumpstart Box - Drafting Partners

Are you still developing this battle box? Any more experience testing it since a couple months ago? I had the thought to make this exact kind of battle box with mixing partner Commanders and Jumpstart, so I'm curious about any other experience you've had :)

Re: Sefris of the Kind of Obvious Ways

Curious where you're at on adding Stax effects now a few months later? I've had the Sefris precon sitting around since last summer and just recently played it and had a blast, then remembered your thread here on the forums. I play in a fairly high power level environment that can border on cEDH, but...

Re: Commander Cube

My commander cube. Always work in progress, but the games always seem to flow very well. I do have many of the format staples in there so players never feel like they are drafting a watered down deck. Note that only about 1/2 the card pool is drafted with 4 players, so it adds even more variation t...

Re: Marchesa, the Black Rose: Affinity

I've been curious how often you get to make good use of Metalworker in your build? When I've tried it in my Marchesa Robots build I find that I don't have that many Artifacts, or it dies pretty much immediately. It feels like the lake of Haste makes it a target on the board that just immediately die...

Re: Sheldon's state of the format and AMA

The only thing that stuck out to me in this article, is a particular line in response to The Prof: What else we can do is to continue to reinforce the message that I offered earlier: to a large extent, you get to sculpt your own Commander experience and there's no such thing as a "must play&quo...

Re: Orvar, the All-Form - Copying Permanents with Card Draw

Was just looking at your list here for some inspiration for my own build and it had me curious, but how do you typically close/win games? Do you just get to a point of making infinite creatures and try to wait until your next turn to swing out? Since there's no Lab Man effects and the like :) Yes, ...

Re: Yawgmoth, Thran Physician - The Power to Proliferate

Kaldheim has some serious power for Black decks that make people sacrifice things a lot. I've been running Snow-Covered Swamps in my building and may try to run Draugr Necromancer and Tergrid, God of Fright // Tergrid's Lantern in my build.

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

Personally, I've been wanting to actually write some Primers. My hesitation is just the time commitment necessary to do something nice. Writing a lot of words is the hardest part, but luckily it's not something you need to do all at once. Start putting your thoughts down on a deck you like, and soo...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

It's also worth noting that your deck doesn't need to be 'strictly the best' to qualify for primer status, either. I work on a very tight budget for building (if I can't trade for it I can't have it is where it's at), and literally not a single one of my primers is optimised, nor is it equivocally ...

Have you thought about including Alhammarret's Archive and Teferi's Ageless Insight to make your cantrips/chain casting power that much more effective?

Re: What bothers you most about the Walking Dead commanders?

*shrug* I'll be enjoying my Negan and Glenn decks and Rick is going right into Mardu Humans. I liked the cards, I like TWD, the vast majority of the "problems" touted are blown out of proportion or are being massively misrepresented by a lot of people that assume their echo chamber speaks ...

Re: Fires of Invention

Oddly enough a deck inspired by darrenhabib's here is most of my experience with Fires of Invention, as well. Works great in that deck since it pretty much just wants to combo off and doesn't interact much with other decks: I play it in my Niv-Mizzet Reborn deck and it works great in a number of way...

Re: Did Partners change how you view/play the format? If so, how?

They never changed how I played the format because I actively avoided using them as Commanders. I don't like Partners for a multitude of reasons. The best ones are too generically powerful because with Partner they weren't designed to be focused so their other half could be open ended. And the rest?...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I like how in the most social format of Magic every discussion or argument about the power level of certain cards seems to be devoid of the player consequences and pressure from three or four other players once you've blown your load on a play early on with supposedly broken cards like everyone is j...

Box League—5C Golos Mediumfriends (Week 1)

I don't have a blog or website to write about the Guardian Project Podcast's EDH Boxing League, so a thread here seems to be the next best thing! Tonight we wrapped up Week 1 with a game that surprisingly ended up a reasonable amount of time. But before I talk about that, here's where the rules sit ...

Seems fair. But any ideas on what to drop? I am personally thinking dropping the retriever, junk diver because of the non synergy with marchesa atleast. Maybe the Trawler? idk Personally, I feel like Unwinding Clock could go. I get what you're going for here with Walking Ballsita and Steel Overseer...

Re: What bothers you most about the Walking Dead commanders?

So when it comes to black bordered cards with an official Magic backing, I'm of the opinion virtually anything printed with that border/backing (also technically white bordered as well) is considered canon. I cropped away the rest the fluff and broke it down to the root issue because I'm tired of s...

Re: Glenn, the Voice of Calm - F**k you Negan and your stupid stick Lucille!!!

Interesting, this looks really similar to what I've been thinking about putting together around Bruna, Light of Alabaster . Glenn looks extremely powerful for Azorius. Not just as a commander, but something you'd want to throw in the 99 as well. And I do think that presents a bit of problem, in sev...

Re: Modal DFCs in Commander

I'm starting to now realize that it's got less to do with cheating and more to do with Wizards of the Coast purposefully designing new rules / cards that are easy to program on Arena but are almost impossible to play on Paper. Their most recent efforts seem to be geared toward Arena, streaming, and...

Re: Modal DFCs in Commander

There are also some decks where you can make an engine - think Crucible of Worlds an something that returns lands from play to your hand. Hagra Mauling // Hagra Broodpit is not a great murder, but if you play it 3 times in a game you may win. They are only the front side of the card when not in pla...

Re: Problem Commanders: Do You Play Them?

It's a bit worrisome that the Brawl Class of 2019 is still dominating EDHREC. 2020's legends are not as blatantly broad and powerful (Kinnan is a strong one, but narrower, ergo flashed in the pan and went away), and haven't managed to catch on. There are literally two commanders from this year in t...
