Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)
I'd be surprised if scam survived this B and R tomorrow. Same with Up the Beanstalk . Those strats seem way too good and people seem to hate playing against them

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)
numbers like that make me surprised scam didn't see a ban a few weeks ago. I enjoy modern a lot but those numbers are crazy

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)
tbh the b and r on Monday seems about as close to "no changes" as they could have while still pretending to make changes. I don't know how much of a change preordain will make, if any at all

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)
I definitely see ban coming on Monday or whenever it is. The only thing I'll predict is that they won't ban any LOTR cards as that won't sell packs. Good chance they'll bn something from tron and either ban something from scam or errata evoke

3 tron decks and 3 rhinos decks in the top 8. single copy each of titan and scam. Interesting to see where the format goes

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)
I definitely didn't think I'd see the day tron decks weren't running any copies of Karn Liberated but I guess it's pretty slow in this format. Which is weird because it used to be one of the main reasons to play tron

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)
yeah I agree. LotR seems pretty underwhelming for modern, I can't see it making as much of an impact as the MH sets

Re: [news] Standard switching to 3 year rotation
I actually really hope more people start playing standard again, it'll be nice to play multiple different competitive events and see multiple stores run events. That way everyone will be able to play the format they want

Re: [news] Standard switching to 3 year rotation
one of the stores in my area changed owners maybe a month or two before covid, they've since stopped pretty much anything to do with magic. that store primarily ran modern fnms, with the odd weekend events that varied. The store that ran standard fnm stopped running magic events maybe a year before ...

Re: [news] Standard switching to 3 year rotation
most players in my hometown realized pretty early into their time playing that standard became much more expensive than modern pretty quickly

Re: [news] Standard switching to 3 year rotation
I feel that seems like a desperate attempt to save a format nobody really wanted to played anymore. In between Kaladesh and now, we have had our fair share of formats that weren't great to put it lightly. Covid basically then gave people a reason to not play paper standard. I mean I guess it is a g...

Grafted Butcher seems really neat but I dunno if it'll have a home. I really like Bloodfeather Phoenix in modern

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)
what card(s) from March of the Machine can people see making an impact in modern? I don't know what I should be picking up at prerelease (been playing rakdos scam as of late, but also have murktide and I believe most of rhinos. Also really hoping for shadow to be good again)

Re: Mono-Black Zombies
I actually don't like playing higher tier decks in pauper, I enjoy the idea of being able to have multiple decks since they're so cheap. One of the stores near me runs a fair bit of pauper so might build this

Re: [MOM] Sunfall
I feel that board wipes are definitely a fine line you gotta make sure don't get crossed. At 4 mv, they can't do much besides wipe the board but t 5, uyou can push design a bit more, at the cost of them being too slow for older formats

I got super lucky for a while, was playing legacy every other weekly a few months ago. Out in BC, Canada for work for a while and it doesn't look like much of a legacy scene out here

I really like how it exiles everything, but I feel that the 5 mana value is a lot for formats like modern where the exile matters more

Re: Wombats and Potato Chips
Out in Victoria, British Columbia on course for work for 2 months. This course is probably gonna give me a lot of free time but adjusting to being 3 hours behind the time zone I've spent 99% of my life in is gonna suck finished my last test of said course today, nit much to do before I finish up 2 ...

Re: Is Oathbreaker Already a Dead Format?
I feel they picked a super weird time to make oathbreaker an official format as it's popularity peeked several years ago at this point and I don't know if I ever heard of people playing it at stores at an official level

Re: State of Legacy Thread
I believe a friend and I called the EI ban a few months ago.
Has anyone touched much legacy after the ban? I'm on the other side of Canada for work much longer than I expected and didn't bring my legacy with me so won't play paper legacy anytime soon
