Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
The answer is 'Yes'. There's some cool cards in the set, not gonna lie. But the set just falls flat for me mostly because of how blatantly "in your face" it is with the Western stuff. The only cool thing I actually really like is the new Rakdos, the Muscle . That's a slam dunk inclusion in...

Re: Kaalia Stax & Aggro
Well, it's been a hot minute since I've updated this Primer. Gotta say, the end of the Phyrexia arc absolutely killed my interest in the game for a minute, and all of my Primers reflect this lethargy. But, this list is still viable and worth maintaining! So I'm overdue in updating it and will do so ...

Re: Tevesh + Thrasios Mid-Range
Fair point. It's not quite what this deck wants to do, but the cEDH meta is actually in a spot where a Loam deck could actually do really well, especially with some extra land effects. Maybe an Aesi deck could really do some damage.

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
Fair point about the phrase "reverse racism". I'll try and eliminate that out of my thinking since it's a fair point and implies a position of privilege. Yeah, the end of the episode could have and should have been more dark IMO. They showed her unyielding commitment to the revenge trope....

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
DirkGently Those are fair assessments. I think one of the things that I really enjoyed was seeing the Japanese culture portrayed through the show. I love learning about other peoples and places and seeing some of the historical portrayals was pretty enjoyable. I'll sum up some of my thoughts about ...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
It's pretty close to an episode a day, which checks out. Me and my partner watch either an episode or a movie over dinner basically every day and Dr Who has been the thing since WHO came out. Just moved on to Blue Eye Samurai. Still 3 episodes left but damn, it's really good so far. A though occurr...

Re: Secret Lair "Sheldon's Spellbook"
I think this is the ONLY Secret Lair I would consider getting simply out of respect for the man. RIP to Sheldon, the legend that popularized and mainstreamed EDH to the world. A tip of the hat and a moment of silence for a great dude. And the cards in the drop are actually pretty good. Tef's Protect...

Re: The One Ring
From a non-cEDH perspective, The One Ring is actually fairly priced from a CMC and power perspective in a vacuum. Without any untap effects, it takes 2-3 turns to really start seeing the return on mana investment with the cards it draws. And it's average window of being cast is probably T3 or T4 sta...

Re: The One Ring
I think my new Christmasland scenario is having an Engine + One Ring now @Dunharrow. Dammit. Thanks for keeping me awake tonight... Not quite that bad but I had someone play a Seedborn Muse with a One Ring this weekend. It..... did not go well for me. Yeah, that's in my cEDH Thras + Tevesh list. Fr...

Re: The One Ring
I have a MTGA historic deck with The One Ring and Paradox Engine. Super fun. I bet its one of those decks where you have all the fun and the opponent doesn't  I stg 75% of the time I play against paradox engine my opponent has a 10 minutes turn and pass not winning. I hate it so much Sounds l...

Re: Was WotC's embrace of Commander a good thing?
I think it has been a net nagative, overall. However, I also think the stages of evolution should be considered. 2011 : Positive. Almost inarguably so. Put the format on the map, gave up much needed wedge support. Increased players discovering the format. EDH was still "one of the many." ...

Re: Was WotC's embrace of Commander a good thing?
I'll chime in as one of the old-timers who still remembers when this format was called EDH back in 2009-2010. Damn, I've been playing for a while... I personally think it's been a mixed bag of results at best and a negative thing at worst. The way WotC influences Commander is from a card design and ...

Glad to see this list is being updated. I've found my desire for EDH slowly returning to me, so I think I ne...

Re: The Next Major Magic Story Arc(s) (2023-2026)
Ayy, that's good to know. I suppose I'm mildly interested in Tezzeret since he's a recurring antagonist who could feasibly do a reasonable amount of damage to the Multiverse. The Coin is probably just going to be a knock-off Phyrexia in some form or fashion but without the hegemony of Phyrexia's &qu...

Re: Do you think Urabrask is really dead?
WOTC doesn't give two f*&$s about what creates a satisfying narrative. Remember that beautiful character development between Jace and Vraska in the original Ixalan set? Where they create a truly emotional bond that was logical and intuitive? And then they resolved that offscreen? Yeah. I'm still...

Re: Wow @MTGSally really did go off a cliff since our move here.
I still go on Sally for the rumor mill and story discussion but man I really got burned out over all the bigotry that still jumped out . On that note, I'm basically the one running the lore section on sally. I tried to do that here but people weren't really talking about the story itself but seems ...

Re: Wow @MTGSally really did go off a cliff since our move here.
The only thing this site really needs to take off is a decent marketing campaign. Some simple, cheap opt-in ads on Facebook and some organic videos on TikTok and I'd bet the site would take off. It's no Discord, but the value of content and ease of reading is much more enjoyable to me Moxfield is co...

Re: Archangel Avacyn - Boros Voltron
Thanks for consistently updating this. This is one of my favorite Primers to read, as a fellow Vorthos fan. I do like the Eldrazi Conscription angle, since it's so thematic with what happened in the storyline. Maybe a small Rector package could be worth it, especially since Avacyn can kill the Recto...

Re: Need Help with Monoblack Control
I think Sheoldred, the Apocalypse is too good not to run simply because of the synergy she brings to your Commander. Being able to completely offset the life loss of the card draw seems really valuable to me, especially since you can proactively protect her with your discard effects. Being able to p...
