Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Reflecting Pool
Really? Personally not a huge fan. In five color decks your usually only worried about getting one of each color until very late game. That's a short sighted way of looking at it. If your first land is a dual, you can tap it for 1 color and the Pool can give you the other. It really shines when pai...

Re: Rule 7 Thoughts
So I'm having trouble with the following things I'm seeing in this thread: 1. If someone is playing commanders that are too strong, we should Rule 0 solution. 2. I'm setting up Gilded Drake/Agent of Treachery locks, and that needs to be dealt with via a clunky rules change. It just strikes me as a b...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Tortured Existence
Yeah, this card is both very good in it's niche, and very overrated. If your creating triggers, it's very good at it. Sefris of the Hidden Ways and Tormod, the Desecrator both love this card. If you are comboing it with a value engine, it's nice. Not overwhelming, but solid. Squee, Goblin Nabob or O...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Asceticism
A 5 mana cost card in green is too slow in Commander.. What happened to our format? What Commander have become? This is really unsetling the direction a casual for fun battlecruiser friendly format have become.... I don't think this card is evidence of anything. This card has always been slow, and ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - The Blackstaff of Waterdeep
Can't tutored with urza's saga and you can't even buff the saga tokens. Why did this also need sorcery speed and target restriction? I don't really see a point to even animate vehicles. One the big strengths of vehicles is that they aren't creatures so they aren't vulnerable to creature removal. Wh...

Re: [MCD] Wishes
Companion was specifically changed to use the command zone in commander BECAUSE it wouldn't work otherwise. Wait, is that true? I don't see anything corroborating that. I think it's in the "not in the game" zone just like all your other cards, it's just that the modified rule 10 allows it...

Re: [MCD] Wishes
So this thread originally predates Companions, Lessons/Learn, and Arena's best of 1 sideboard changes. None of those things (or Forgotten Realms' dungeons) fundamentally change things about wishes. Arena's best of 1 sideboard change is the only one that is close. Companions get cited, because in oth...

Re: [MCD] Wishes
You state this like it's a solution when it's actually a problem. Lots of cards operate differently in different formats due to circumstance, but wishes (effects that refer to cards outside the game) are (as far as I know) the singular unique subset of cards that have different rules within a singl...

Re: [MCD] Wishes
I want to respectfully comment about how terrible the format is for discussion. Please go reread these 2 year old post that has been changed (with no documentation of how it's been changed) and respond to the new information, but not the old information that has been discussed for several hundred po...

Re: SCD: Generous Patron
As a generic 3 mana draw 2 it's not particularly good. It gives bonuses to your opponents creatures and they need to have them, which you can't always count on. As a draw engine, because your deck is already putting counters on your opponents creatures, it's fantastic. In the first case, there are b...

Re: 30+ Creature Type Changeling Tribal
Does anyone have a budget list together for this archetype? Here's Tomer Abramovici's primer on the article that includes 2 budget lists: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/tribal-tribal-primer-all-tribes-in-one-deck-big-kaldheim-update Should give you a good starting point to modify towards your...

Re: Let's rank ALL the fixing lands
You can tap the og pains for colorless and not take damage. It's sometimes relevant? Also if you're running Mana Confluence and City of Brass stuff can get really out of hand fast. But drawing cards is goooooood, especially as a land and especially in a deck where you have either excess lands late ...

Re: Let's rank ALL the fixing lands
I think this thread deserves a necro/revisit. We've gotten some new goodies, that are worthy of discussion. Pathways Snarls, finishing out the cycle of reveal lands What do you even refer to the new Innistrad Duals as? I think they're quite good. Campuses seem like a solid budget land, better than t...

Re: General for a deck that wins with opponents' stuff
Merieke Ri Berit is only nonthreatening if the are unfamiliar with it (possible). Once people have seen it in action, they know better. Typical builds abuse untap effects to machine gun every creature off the table and then leave you with the best one. It's one of those generals that cannot be allo...

Dralnu, Lich Lord is a legendary lich, although I don't know if he's best for what you want to build.

I did not reread your posts about uncards. So you replied to my post, but didn't read the whole thing? I don't really see where I can go from here, other than shout into the void some, I guess. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I actually quoted what I was specifically replying to in my post, so as to leave it...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
There's no reason anyone should object to something like Jackknight and yet you can't count on that. You say, after skimming over the points in my post where I list reasons people don't want to play against Un cards on a regular basis. Even if you don't have a regular playgroup, you're still calcul...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
Yes, you can Rule 0 some things, but others are a big ask. "This thing is a big ask for my playgroup, so it should just be the default" If that's not what you mean, clarify. I don't have a regular playgroup. It's a big ask to show up at a store and ask to play with something silver border...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
This change smells like someone wanting to have their cake and eat it too. They want to remove the stigma without actually changing what the cards are. "Hey, we made these silver border cards that are basically just jokes, aren't they fun?" "Sure, I guess, but most people don't want ...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
What's so confusing about looking at a hologram's shape? Genuinely confused at all the people complaining, acorn = not legal. It's really not that complicated. Admittedly, the WOTC team is creating confusion by spoiling Water Gun Balloon Game with an Oval hologram when it will actually have an acor...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
I especially like it going black border-acorn instead of silver border. This is what I hate. I'm glad they are making the cards that can work be legal. But that acorn looks pretty subtle for the "should be silver bordered" cards. Unsets are great fun. I've developed bruises on my hands fr...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Mana Web
You could use Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and/or Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth to ensure that it taps all their lands, so there is that.
But I still think there are better options.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Collector Ouphe
I think they don't see more play because they fit in to the competitive spectrum of cards. The same things that keep people from playing Mass Land Destruction and Prison-type cards keep them from playing these two. There are ways to hate on treasure that should see more play. But these shutdown mana...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
I mean you didn't draw enchantment removal after a 7 drop resolved and you got 3 turns. Unless someone is combining it with proliferate enablers I think it's fine :P Proliferate will let you shave 1 turn, but that's it. You need the first counter on it, and the lose the game trigger is part of the ...
