Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Winding Canyons
I honestly like winding canyons quite a lot. My meta is boardwipe heavy, so having a surprise creature with "haste" at the end of someone else's turn is excellent. I play it in addition to hall of the bandit lord which itself isn't that cheap though it has been reprinted. It works very wel...

Re: Worst commander that's still fun to play?
I am a big fan of ramses overdark. There are a lot of auras that return to hand when the creature dies. Fool's Demise even lets you control whichever one ramses pops. Admittedly it's weak as well, but it sounds about right for the described meta.

Re: Best "Out of the Box" Precons?
I don't know if it's still in print, but I cannot imagine it being terribly expensive. I've been pretty impressed with the Obuun, Mul Daya Ancestor precon. It's really well balanced and does pretty well. I have been using it to teach newbies how to play.

Re: Mono green artifacts
Mono green artifacts? Green does one thing very well these days with artifacts and that is to make lots of artifact tokens. The obvious choice for a commander seems to be Old Gnawbone . One attack and connect and he makes a ton of treasures. You also have Tireless Provisioner or Tireless Tracker bot...

Re: Aurelia, the Warleader - Tokens/Equipment
It feels as if you're lacking finishers. I see a voltron list with a weenie subtheme (tokens). What I fail to understand is that if you're going tall, why aren't you using Cathars' Crusade ? With any of the 2 or more creatures on attack, it would give you an insane way to put the game away quickly. ...

Re: Michiko Konda, Truth Seeker - Help Wanted
I certainly understand the need for strategies like monarch to entice people to attack you to trigger your commander, but there are notable similarities to an old coldsnap commander, Darien, King of Kjeldor . Like Michiko, he wants people to damage you because you get rewarded for it. I would start ...

Re: Is milling a bad strategy?
I think milling is a fine strategy, but only as the win condition itself. However, I don't think blue does it that well. Exception: Bruvac the Grandiloquent and Maddening Cacophony as a 2 card I win condition. For part way mill, I think blue/black with Oona, Queen of the Fae or mono black for gravey...

Re: Saryth's Magnificent Trampling Circus
One thing that makes me sad about this pile of nostalgia is a lack of Might of Oaks . Cards that make me even sadder by their lack of presence are Decree of Savagery or Vitalizing Wind . I ran one of each in my own big green silly deck back in the day. Nothing made me happier than responding to a na...

Re: Ideas for a bodyguard deck
I think Sinis is correct in that you want monarch for this kind of effect. However, I disagree with the choice of colors. Preventing them from dying is one thing, but resurrecting them is even better. Additionally, many have suggested boros to force combat. While I don't disagree with this idea, the...

Re: Mina and Denn's Hyperactive Nykthos
I agree with most of the changes made, including -sylvan caryatid, + manascape refractor. However, I think that the lands could certainly be improved. In particular, mossfire valley, homeward path, and maybe lotus field all are questionable here. They do nothing if you bounce them with your commande...

Re: Mina and Denn's Hyperactive Nykthos
There are some definite things I would consider in this deck that you're not already doing. Enchantment land ramp is a good idea with land untappers. In that case, I would -llanowar elves, -fyndhorn elves, +utopia sprawl, +wild growth. Your land untappers are an eclectic mess. Why magus of the cande...

In no way shape or form would I remove thorn mammoth for the other suggestions. In this deck and almost any others, they are considerably inferior to thorn mammoth. Considering your commander, it gets easy to understand if I mention Dryad Arbor . If you need to, that's repeated removal at your choic...

Re: Rakdos the defiler (cuts help needed)
I like the deck, it reminds me of my own rakdos the defiler list. Unless you're going for the idea of lich+repay in kind, I would remove the lich. You have no ways to gain life though the synergy with vilis could be broken. Same with havoc festival. I don't see what it does for you. It's basically a...

Re: Bruna, the Fading Light - Mono-W Moat Control
I am surprised that I haven't seen any mention of Breathkeeper Seraph in here yet. A 4/4 flying angel for 4WW is nothing amazing, but the soul bond ability that makes it and whatever it is paired with have Lifeline , but better seems to have unbelievable potential in this deck. Any etb. creature wit...

Re: Haldan & Pako Mostly Izzet Pupper Artifacts
Deck looks fun to play, but a little weak to drannith magistrate. It's all over my meta, so any deck looking to cast cards from places other than hands probably needs 4 or 5 possible ways to deal with him and his ilk. Do you have a way to stop these?

Re: Community Build - Omnath, Locus of creation [but modern legality]
The elemental package is excellent here no doubt. If you're going to opt for value town, then what about: Cloudblazer Risen Reef Foundation Breaker Master of Waves Subtlety Fury Titania, Protector of Argoth Wavesifter I think Soulherder probably fits as well and maybe also Panharmonicon . There are ...

Re: Grenzo Havoc Raiser Mono-Red Midrange Combat
I am a little bit curious about your meta if cards like grim lavamancer etc. get through blockers consistently. My meta usually has a lot of bigger creatures (or the combo decks simply don't care) and thus these kinds of cards with small damage output rarely matter (inferno titan is a separate matte...

Re: Grenzo Havoc Raiser Mono-Red Midrange Combat
It looks like an interesting deck, but I do feel you really want to add in a Myriad Landscape to the lands package. It's low opportunity cost in my opinion and can really add that mid to late game mountain power that a deck like this depends upon. I never leave home without in a deck packing valakut...

Re: For the Love of Humanity (Katilda)
There are many I could suggest, but even though your entire deck is basically mana dorks thanks to your commander, you are also particularly vulnerable to board wipes. If you don't manage to keep a full grip, then one good wrath effect will slow you down considerably. I would really consider a land ...

I know you don't want the sorcery 1 shot wheels, but two you might consider are Chandra Ablaze and Dragon Mage (risky, though). Alternatively, Howling Golem might be ok.

Really surprised nobody is talking about Gavony Dawnguard . I'm super excited for this in Mono-White! As a value generator, Gavony Dawnguard is really solid. However, as others have noted, it doesn't do much here. Where it is almost 100% an automatic include is a deck like Teshar, Ancestor's Apostl...

Re: Infinite Aurelia deck idea
In general, I think that winning with infinite combats is fine, however you choose to do it. However, I will point out that sword of hearth and home doesn't work like helm of the host. It is because aurelia goes straight into another combat phase without a main phase. You cannot reequip the sword if...

It feels pretty slow for what you're trying to do: Cards I find questionable even though they are generally solid cards: smokestack mind stone birthing pod This deck really isn't trying to be a stax deck. It feels as if you're trying to do too much. Rather, I think these cards would be better as Tal...
