Re: What's your most unusual commander and/or deck?

For me it's probably Chandra, Flame of Kaladesh Chandra Tribal. Every single Chandra PW card is there, and while the deck doesn't regularly win, it does occasionaly notch up wins.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Rampant Growth

It's an ol' reliable. It will always do exactly as it says on the tin, is best with decks that need to hit 4 ASAP...yea it's just a good card.

Theros Beyond Death: What do you desire?

It's time again to look at our decks, then look at the new set and see...what is it we desire? What's our wishlist for the newest set? Starting with mine: Selvala, Explorer Returned : Heliod's Intervention - There's a lot of artifacts and enchantments running about in my meta, having a onesided swee...

Re: Which do you like more?

Hey Gashnaw I think you forgot something. Anyway, my pick is Call to Mind. The deck that want this kind of effect will probably just want to win on the spot, that one mana can matter. They're both good options. On the second: Gwyn is far more interesting, though I don't particulary like either. Here...

Great Aurora. It's a somewhat fairer version to work with and doesn't entirely deprive the spellslinger from resources, while still putting the caster in a very powerful position.

Re: Pioneer Ban List Announcement 11/4/19

Mono-green devotion is insanely fast. Leyline makes it a problem by doubling down, providing two free devotion and turning on Nykthos T2 already. A start with Leyline, mana dork and Nykthos means you're looking at 4 mana T2, drop a 4 drop, and now you're likely at 7 mana T3. Oath of Nissa is a bit m...

Re: Which do you like more?

I feel we've seen this exact comparison before and again I'll say Beguiler as that one takes much less work and is permanent. As for the flavortext, the sheer arrogance dripping off of Willbreaker nudges that one over the top for me.

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I don't expect to see any gods beyond the big 5, aside from references and maybe Phenax as he seems to have a bigger role (I expect an Ashiok - Phenax combo as villains next to Heliod). That said these cards don't really excite me. The flavor on Adonis is cool, the merfolk legend is pretty nifty, bu...

Re: Underused Cards in EDH

Soldevi Adnate - It's in 998 out of 151368 decks...the HELL? The insane chains of play you can pull off with this one are amazing, especially combined with all the other death/sacrifice triggers Black tends to love anyway. Everyone's sleeping on this one, as far as I'm concerned. Its cousin Priest ...

Re: Endrek Sahr vs Ayara

Endrek is an absolute all-star in Ayara. Even when I don't have a sac outlet at the ready, just dropping a 6 drop first and then something big later on that kills him will absolutely machinegun the table down. However, as a commander, Endrek is fun but not nearly as consistent as Ayara, and that's w...

I was this years old when I discovered the existence of Ricochet Trap and I feel I must test it out somewhere now. The ceiling isn't as high as with Wild Ricochet but the potentional for cheap use is definitely there.

Re: What do I do with a timetwister? Advice and brainstorming!

While I never ran it myself (due to not acquiring it), I did ran all the varieties from Time Spiral to Day's Undoing in a Jori En, Ruin Diver deck which was based on constantly bouncing everything my opponents owned via the likes of Cyclonic Rift and then Twist their hands away. With the advent of N...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - AEther Vial

Yeah it's not as silly as it gets in Modern/Legacy, but it's still a decent card that is always recommended for decks with a cluster of creatures at CMC 2 or 3 - those tend to be the best spots to hit relatively early and get a nice discount still. Still as good in Goblins as it is in eternal format...

Echo of Eons. It allows for more tricks and you don't risk losing vital parts of your deck.

Both are fun cards but only Mystic Confluence I actually often see in various decks. The flexibility is too good to ignore, it's literally never a dead card which Silumgar's Command can be.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Abzan Charm

2 decent and one terrible mode...for a 3-color charm to be truly playable, each mode must be at least "Useful" in most situations so that even if there's a clear winner, you could occasionaly run the other options out. That just isn't the case here. It's not a terrible card for My First Ab...

Scourge of Valkas, not even close. Having it out and dragonstorming for 3 is a guaranteed win beyond any specific direct removal spells.

Re: Epic & Hilarious Plays Thread

First time playing Grumgully, the Generous which is just a pile of aggro jank and some cute synergies I pulled together, one of the opponents was The Ur-Dragon . Early game I had Grumgully and Aerie Ouphes out, and he drops a Atarka, World Render , which promptly gets shot down because the Ouphes ha...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Field of the Dead

Always run Snow/Normal basics split when running this. It's not good in every deck, but if you can reliably drop multiple and varied lands each turn, it'll do a good amount of work. Just keep in mind it comes into play tapped, I've seen a lot of people miss that little part.

Re: New Format Pioneer

The more I look at it, the more sense RtR makes. Print runs were booming around that time and it doesn't have nearly as many insane high-ticket cards as Innistrad does. It also cuts off some rather dangerous cards in LotV, Snapcaster, Cavern of Souls and a few others that could have some chokehold o...

Re: Proxies in Commander

I don't mind temp proxies, like testing out cards that are pricey but you don't know if they're actually worth it, like a Selvala, Heart of the Wilds in a deck with fatties. However, if you keep the proxy in for several months, that's a no go as far as I'm concerned. I feel overuse of proxies is unf...

Sower, not even close. The double requirement of Willbreaker is a pain, though it does have a few cute combos, typically Sower will do more for you.
