Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
Oh, i finally got to do the Mirror of Fate + Rest in peace + Temporal mastery today.
The best part of the deck is when people who watch ask "wtf do these cards do" then you proceed to take all the turns.

Re: Arcades, the Strategist: Wall-Ball Combo
I haven't considered Concordant Crossroads before, but I feel like others might get more value than us? Not if you win the turn you play it, which you seem quite keen on doing given the build. Crossroads does allow us to win with sabertooth and no intruder alarm by bouncing and replaying either bat...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
I demonstrated a loop that allowed me to continously take infinite turns, I cast it twice before they realized that i would never pass the turn to anyone but myself at that point. They asked how I planned on killing them, so i fished out barren glory and used the infinite mana time spiral would have...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
Soooo tstorm823 , i play an older version of this zedruu deck that i found a while ago on MTG salvation. I thought it would be cool to tell you how I won the game the last two times I played. First time: Warstorm Surge + Cowardice + March of the Machines + jeskai Ascendancy + Unbe...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
At last, after many months in silence no thanks to mtg salvation, I can now comment!!! First of all, a big thank you!!!! I learned about this Zedruu deck about 8 months ago and never looked back. It is by far the most entertaining EDH I have ever played. Every game is so unique and full of interact...

1) Jerks at the table
2) Games where any single player is unable to do anything at all.
3) disproportional power levels.
That's about it.

Re: Is it time to cut signets entirely?
This is the 2nd best 2 mana rock. The first is Grim monolith, and Fellwar stone is the next best, generally speaking.
This will go in any deck that is interested in 2 mana rocks.... which is like, most non-green decks.

Re: Arcades, the Strategist: Wall-Ball Combo
FWIW i replaced Paradox engine with Village Bell Ringer.
Obviously it's not a 1:1 analogue, but it works alright with Cloudstone curio / Temur Sabertooth in conjuction with mana dorks.

Re: Having Your Voice Heard
I don't disagree with it being normal and fine. I'm talking about what the natural progression is, and that is homogenization and a sliding towards more optimized strategies. If it's normal and fine why is it a problem? I get the concern I just think it's overblown. Everyone already knows how to ma...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard
What Wizards has found out trying to hide data for modern is that 1) people still crave it, and 2) they will find a way :P (people have done massive amounts of self-reporting for instance modern GP results) This started with the magazine printing winning decklists in the 90s. People want to know wh...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard
I believe players are going to use any information, data or experiences they can in an effort to play the format the way they prefer. That's not necessarily a problem, though! The problem is when those players then "force" others around them to similarly power their deck up, or move towar...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard
Not to be a negative Nancy, but doesn't the very act of gathering, disseminating, consuming, and applying data move commander to a more homogenized, more competitive place? I would argue that the large amount of commander related content is responsible for the move away from the original intent of t...

Re: (MCD) Birthing Pod combos
I'm sure there are about a hundred pod chains with Derevi into Reveillark combo type stuff. Derevi definitely seems a super easy Pod-chain commander. One I was considering running when I first picked up a Birthing Pod was, 1. Pod Derevi, Empyrial Tactician into Felidar Guardian . Felidar untaps Pod...

Re: (MCD) Birthing Pod combos
also, i think they don't play 3 mana persist creatures, because they have a 3 mana creature and a 4 mana creature in the command zone to pod. It's not as compact, but it's not meant to be a super fast combo deck, it is a stax deck that means to run your opponents out of resources, or prevent them fr...

Re: (MCD) Birthing Pod combos
Bloodpod as a deck... plays a ton of answers for specific threats. You have to tailor the deck to your specific meta, so out of the normal cEDH decks that you might find online, this one takes the most tweaking to do well. In my meta, bloodmoon is INCREDIBLY good becuase there is a ton of tainted pa...

Re: Post PE Metagame
playing extract once, against one player, typically just plays king maker for the other two players in the pod... Oof, I was thinking of this in a more 1v1 context. Multiplayer combofest is a much harder problem. yeah, most cEDH games are 4 player pods, I can't remember the last time i saw people p...

Re: Post PE Metagame
Decks can still threaten to win on turn 3, but not so consistently, What makes Flash/Hulk so consistent? Spellseeker / Summoner's Pact ? There must be an awful lot of sets of hands that don't win instantly.... If decks can threaten to win turn 3 (even inconsistently), it doesn't seem like it will e...

Re: Post PE Metagame
The one tidbit from the Flash SCD is that Hulk is in 73% of Flash decks, but Flash is only in 21% of hulk decks. Which suggests that Flash is very rarely played outside of CEDH - although there were a few folks who chimed in (and Flash is only in around 200 decks that are not playing Hulk). I think...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard
"Flash is format warping, nearly all games are solely about whether or not a flash can be cast and resolved, and if it is resolved the game ends." People can and do have some fun in those situations, but it limits choices, and games often become carbon copies of each other. I understand a...

I can't speak for everyone, but here's what has happened in the meta that I play at. There were several PST decks, as well as several Flash Hulk style decks, Stax decks, and food chain decls// Pretty diverse with a ton of things to choose from. It has changed now to Hulk decks, and "hulk hunter...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard
My reading of the discussion was more of a meta-discussion of how the Flash ban relates to why a casual player might disagree with the assessment that banning "purely competitive" cards is harmless to the community -- which I think is extremely topical and important. I agree. Flash appear...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard
Why are we talking about Flash again? Because people find it relevant to discussion of the divide between competitive and non-competitive EDH, and how that relates to the banlist philosophy. Flash is a great card for testing whether the banlist philosophy can be safely tweaked the way many CEDH pla...
