Re: Thoughts on Vadrik as a Commander

My first instinct for Vadrik, Astral Archmage is some sort of hybrid voltron // storm deck, making use of cards like Runechanter's Pike , Diviner's Wand , and Lunar Frenzy . +X/+0 effects and extra combats both scale Vardik's damage very, very quickly, and you can run stuff like Stroke of Genius to...

Thoughts on Vadrik as a Commander

I recently pulled a nice showcase art Vadrik, Astral Archmage and I have been contemplating making a deck for him. I actually put together a Draw-Go style deck for him on Arena's Historic Brawl format, but it doesn't feel like the type of deck that would be appropriate for anything other than 1v1 wi...

Advice for a proper Commander to play against young daughter

I taught my nine year old daughter how to play magic at the beginning of quarantine. We started with pretty basic decks, mostly permanents, but a few instants and sorceries as well. I mostly play commander, and when she saw me open a Lathiel, the Bounteous Dawn , she asked me to build her a deck so ...

Re: Jared versus Sevinne Advice

While Sevinne, the Chronoclasm lends itself to be a midrange/combo Spellslinger, Jared Carthalion, True Heir is a much more aggressive Voltron guy. So, if i were you, the first thing to decide would be, which is more interesting. Thank you for the well thought out reply. Since I was trying to build...

Jared versus Sevinne Advice

I am in a bit of a quandry. When I started looking through Commander Legends for a new commander to build, I was immediately grabbed by Jared Carthalion, True Heir . Seemed like a good time; playing with the Monarch mechanic and especially his second ability, turning damage into +1/+1 counters, runn...

Re: FTV: Fetchlands (plus Chandra spellbook)

Interesting sentence in here... emphasis mine: Secret Lair: Ultimate Edition will contain one non-foil copy of each of these cards, and you can only get the grouping of five at your local game store starting May 29. Copies are limited—stores will typically receive no more than 10 copies of Ultimate ...

My Kynaios and Tiro Aikido Deck - Comments and Critiques Welcome!

Here is a project that I just started working on again. It is inspired by Sheldon's "You did this to yourself" deck. Looking for any comments and/or constructive critiques. My meta is pretty casual, going off of CFB's recent CommandFest guidelines, I would say most decks range from 5 to 8,...

Re: [THB] Theros Beyond Death Name and Number Crunch

It would appear Siona, Captain of the Pyleas isn't going to warrant their own thread (though she's in the spoiler), but it's number 226. Yep that might confirm a legend of each guild color combo will get a slot at rare or mythic So Azorius Rakdos Golgari (polukranos is excluded for as if a rare slo...

If not an actual sword of x and y then some sort of powerful equipment to reference Excalibur
Oh, for sure! If this is Camelot meets Grimm, then Excalibur and King Arthur seem like absolute locks.

Re: [ELD] Rosewater Panel at SDCC

I'm going to guess at least one card a "sword of X and Y" mythic or rare rarity. Probably not. I hope not. I would seriously doubt it. At least it won't be one of the three allied swords remaining. Maro said that they did the two in Modern Horizons so they didn't have to worry about them ...

Re: Commander 2019 Speculation

All this said, its possible we see some early spoils outside of a spoiler season at some upcoming event (I want to say I heard about some event this weekend or next but didn't pay very close attention). Maro said he will announce when C19 previews will start at SDCC during the panel. He also said l...

Maro said on his blog that the face planeswalker for Eldraine is a planeswalker with a card that is from Eldraine. Here is a list of the living walkers without a known/named home plane: Aminatou Angrath Ashiok Davriel Cane Estrid Garruk Kasmina Kaya Ob Nixilis Rowan and Will Kenrith The Wanderer Wre...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard

Personally I would appreciate more faith in us to moderate ourselves and decide what is and isn't okay. I have seen a similar statement many times since the announcement. What does this mean exactly? That question isn't targeted toward you Jim Wolfe, but to everyone with a similar view. Are we talk...

When I had a 99-mountains + Ashling deck, one of the first things that I added were some sweeps like Obliterate and Jokulhaups and my personal favorite card in mono-Red, Chaos Warp . I was thinking about them. Yeah, I just like having access to some answers. I think Koth of the Hammer is also defin...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard

The RC is not the barrier to this. We are, as a group, big proponents of people creating other ways to play. French/Dual commander sprung directly out of a former RC member who wanted a different format. One of my personal points of confusion in all of this has been cEDH vs French. Isn't French the...

Hmmm, interesting. I had a Barrin, Master Wizard deck for a long time and I loved it. IDK how much I would change about him. Although maybe an Izzet version? Thinking about Barrin as depicted on Obliterate.

I have it in my Urza deck. If I need to go wide, Mirrodin. If I need to try and get a win some other way than combat, Phyrexia. Haven't had a chance to play it yet, but seems fun.

Re: Changing Commanders

My decks usually revolve around my commander. So I can't really just change their commanders. Although I usually don't keep more than one deck built for any given color combo (except for mono-blue). Sometimes I will change decks that way. For example, my Neheb, the Eternal deck was dismantled when V...

I would be curious to see the results of such a survey in 2-3 month, i.e. when the proverbial smoke has cleared. I think some people are in the heat of the moment and may cool down after a while. Personally, I think the format is in a good spot. I like the RC/CAG setup and look forward to their acti...

Re: Topical Discussion of the Official Multiplayer Ban List

The way they are handling things, imo, is that if somebody creates a Stasis lock against Sheldon in a game then we'll see every stax card banned, at least at this rate. I've seen people make comments like this elsewhere, and I have no reason to believe there's any rationale behind it whatsoever. Th...
