Re: [SCD] Pip-Boy 3000
Probably not a factor, but if your two lands tap for at least [sym=3][sym=R][sym=R], it combos off with Aggravated Assault . I guess you could go deep with that via Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx . It sounds like it wants to just be Sword of Feast and Famine but I guess it has the upside of giving you the ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Animal Friend
Its awkward in that you are sort of stacking a bunch of buffs in one location while going wide. Usually you don't want to go both big and wide but the small cavoite I will give it is that it might help against edicts. I think this card is probably in most cases a trap though.

Re: [SCD] Pip-Boy 3000
The fact that its on attack rather than on doing damage is nice as it means if you get chumped it doesn't matter. The filter mode is weaker than Mask of Memory but it is again an on attack rather than doing damage to a player trigger. I think its probably fine. I think the filter and untaps are the ...

Balancing Act
Balancing Act Ok, so I was looking at a very low permanents in play style of deck and I was curious as to what level of inappropriate something like Balancing Act might feel. This deck would generally probably be somewhere of an 8+ power scale deck having a lot of interaction for opponents but its ...

Re: Mirko, Obsessive Theorist
Some more changes to the deck. I haven't gotten a chance to play recently but I wanted to boost my survivability and increase my rezable targets for my commander. Its sort of important for me to keep a reasonable number of answer me kind of threats as I do want my opponents to target things other th...

Re: Queen Kayla - Norin Soul Sisters
Looks absolutely sweet! I think you might still want Winota, Joiner of Forces in the mix, since there's so much overlap from your last list. Sorry been sick lately. I think Winota, Joiner of Forces has some overlap but my concern offhand would be that I don't have a great human to non human ratio a...

Queen Kayla - Norin Soul Sisters
I am merging a few ideas together here. I really wanted to find a deck where I could jam a bunch of Rule of Law effects together as a lot of players I play against push hard on chaining spells repeatedly and given my commander I end to rely more on just activating my commander. The other was that I ...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
Douple post to point : Rafine filtering and low curve Edgar were brought to forums by @ISBPathfinder I am a sucker for low curve aggro. I did a few other ones too that didn't get as much traction outside of me playing like Sai, Master Thopterist artificer which was about as fast but a lot more of a...

Re: Ratadrabik Legendary Death Loops
I managed to pick up a copy of Delney, Streetwise Lookout and have temporarily slotted it in for Athreos, God of Passage . I am not really sold on either card if I am being honest. Athreos has been kind of mid passable at best in my experience so far. My thinking is that with all of the cloning of m...

Re: Mirko, Obsessive Theorist
Just poking around at my physical list as a few ordered cards come in and I realized I already wanted to make a few changes. Its still going to be a few weeks before I can play this one more just because I am booked over the weekends but I am going to make some small updates anyways. DECK CHANGES: N...

Re: ISB Raffine
doh, I think you're probably right. So I have thought about Esior/Tymna too, and also the two-tymnas gameplan of Sakashima of a Thousand Faces (with more of a raffine style creature lineup). I think the thing that probably appeals to me the most about the whole thing is getting to play all those st...

Mirko, Obsessive Theorist
Ok, I am a junkie for a low cmc evasive commander who grows on their own and has vigilance. That is like slap all the things I like together but beyond that they also have a reanimate clause stapled on? Wowza I am in. I really didn't go suuuuuper duper deep on the Surveil support. Honestly I might e...

Re: Ratadrabik Legendary Death Loops
Yeah I was confused about how it would be a legendary creature, but on Gatherer one of the rulings is that it retains its types in addition to being a creature. Makes sense now. Thanks. Seems like something fun to test out. Would definitely be better with Rata and at least another token doubler on ...

Re: Ratadrabik Legendary Death Loops
Gideon doesn't become a legendary creature, so you can't get Commander copies. You could still benefit from the token doublers though. Its contingent of using his own ability to animate him first so you don't get to emblem with the original the point of it is really only if you have a means of spli...

Re: Ratadrabik Legendary Death Loops
Alongside of considering the multiple commander design I was also curious of thoughts of Gideon, Ally of Zendikar . It seems like a little bit of a winmore situation but let me spell out what I was thinking with this. You can animate Gideon to be a creature and then sac him to trigger commander copi...

Re: Ratadrabik Legendary Death Loops
Alright, I did a little bit of different experimentation this last week. I only played one game but my experimentation was on cloning the hell out of my commander (which is hard to do in BW). I did some shifting around of cards in my list and did some testing again with a bunch of things that can gi...

Re: Ratadrabik Legendary Death Loops
I also for whatever reason cannot for the life of me draw ramp with this deck lately You might want to have a think about the Brought Back package, which strongly synergizes with commander (excepting Cosmic Intervention which is iffy but still quite strong, since you can just subsequently sac them ...

Re: Ratadrabik Legendary Death Loops
I had a few games this weekend but it was mostly instances of crazy infinite combo decks going off paired with some hatebears hitting and slowing me down. I also for whatever reason cannot for the life of me draw ramp with this deck lately. My second game I was in the middle of losing when I topdeck...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Gandalf the White
Gandalf as a legend is kinda boring because its mono white ETB / Deaths which mono white doesn't do all that well if I am being honest but I think we are starting to get such a density of this effect that in the 99 he is quite reasonable. As a commander he probably can do some combo stuff with like ...

Re: Ratadrabik Legendary Death Loops
Well, I've played Rata a bit more and realized that I need a greater density of legendary creatures. Still haven't received Erebos in the mail yet, but that'll go straight in. I've found that I haven't really needed Land Tax , so that'll be a cut. So far I haven't had much success with Grave Pact a...

Re: Ratadrabik Legendary Death Loops
Glad you got more games in. I've noticed what you discussed earlier with Living Death . I haven't been able to get it set up very well and it hasn't benefitted me as much as I'd like. I too will try out Tragic Arrogance in that slot. So far, my games with Rata have gotten close, but I've never real...

Hylda - Tap Control
Ok, I am a little concerned that this commander and playstyle is just absolutely miserable to play against. Having all your defenses turned down at instant speed or getting an army of attackers shut down is really..... kind of miserable. That said.... the evil little troll in me loves the idea of sp...

Re: The One Ring
I played a One Ring this weekend in a game in which it was stolen twice before it came back to my turn. If that doesn't give you primeval titan vibes I don't know what does. I believe it was turn 5 when I played it. Out of curiosity, what effects stole it? I can't think of many commonly-played arti...
