Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Outcaster Trailblazer, wow we are getting a lot of this type of effect. I think after this one I'll have enough of this in Titania, Protector of Argoth that next iteration displaces Garruk's Packleader. Vaultborn Tyrant does this in the same set even.

Re: Sefris of the Kind of Obvious Ways

Everything yeti1069 said about the cards I mentioned as potentially good includes are exactly what I was thinking, so I will just give his post a big :+1: Also to note that adding two or three of those cards individually is good, but adding 10-12 of those as part of a creature-based interaction suit...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Insatiable Avaric — That is going in every black related deck in existence period! The the 2 Spree cost makes it a budget Imperial Seal and if you got a additional bb your throwing in Ancient Craving I'm a little lower on this card. I think the main draw is the cheaper Ancient Craving . Cruel Tutor...

Re: [SCD] Pip-Boy 3000

I'm not sure you need a 1 drop to get the value off Pip-Boy anyway. It takes 3 mana to play and equip, even spread out over 2 turns unless you have a [sym=0] cost creature you cannot get it equipped until turn 3. So a 1 or 2 drop creature would suffice to get immediate value. And then you need anoth...

Re: Titania, Protector of Argoth

Few updates with new cards. Nothing profound here lately. IN Aftermath Analyst >> OUT Tilling Treefolk . I'll take more Splendid Reclamation type effects, and Treefolk was a bit weak. Solid swap in my opinion. IN Song of the Dryads >> OUT Kenrith's Transformation . More permanent answer here over K....

Re: Sefris of the Kind of Obvious Ways

I use Phyrexian Reclamation , but I'm wondering if the Oversold Cemetery might be a better choice. I've recently started playing Sefris, have loved it so far. Would appreciate any feedback anyone has on my list. My current deck. Edited to add: My playgroup doesn't really do infinites, so I've left ...

Re: Sefris of the Kind of Obvious Ways

How has Mindleech Mass been? I've been debating picking it up for my Captain N'ghathrod deck, but 8 mana is a lot, and 6/6 trample isn't an inspiring stat line for that cost, even if the effect is cool. I put Mass in because I had one from the battlecruiser days, but I don't think I have gotten to ...

Re: Zurzoth, Chaos Rider BURRRN!!!

Couple changes that I am excited about. These are cards I have been watching and their prices have about hit their floor. IN Brazen Cannonade >> OUT Raid Bombardment . Similar cards, but Cannonade adds some impulse draw and makes my creatures less attractive to block. IN Spiteful Banditry >> OUT Cha...

Re: Thrasios and Tormod's Field of the Dead

Good looking list. Is Reshape the Earth really all that? I see it in several lands lists but gosh the mana cost seems high. Is it mainly for Filed of the Dead or Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle triggers? I'm playing Titania, Protector of Argoth without Field of the Dead so I am not seeing the appeal ou...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Nezumi Graverobber

Couple of oldies popping up this week. Nice to see. I think there are some good arguments for why we don't see graverobber any more. The reanimation payoff it a bit expensive, and so is the grave hate. Generally if you hitting cards 1-for-1 you only want to be paying 1 mana each, or get some additio...

Re: Sefris of the Kind of Obvious Ways

Made a couple changes to my decklist. IN Oversold Cemetery >> OUT Faithful Mending . Mending not netting any cards didn't do much when I have several repeatable looters. IN Seasoned Dungeoneer >> OUT Tomb of Horrors Adventurer . Never saw it in action, but I'm a little heavy on the 6+ creatures and ...

Re: Kalamax Midrange/Tempo

pokken thanks for the comment, great stuff. Deck exposition incoming... I'm really trying to walk a fine line between full spell slinger and more mundane tempo-control deck, which is why I'm trying to keep the creature count up to ~20. Dropping to 10 creatures means I have to replace at least 5-8 w...

Re: God-Eternal Oketra

What do people think of cards like Throne of Eldraine and Sceptre of Eternal Glory as ramp in mono coloured creature based strategies? Necessary restrictions aside, they likely lets you also play a creature the turn you play them but obviously wide open to removal. Faster than the equipment but mor...

Re: Kalamax Midrange/Tempo

Well no other discussion on my requested topics, so I'll just make a quick deck update and add some mental notes. IN Rampant Growth >> OUT Sakura-Tribe Elder . Steve has zero synergy with the deck and was in for the sole purpose of increasing my creature count to 24. I may be signing my death warran...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Bogardan Hellkite

Bogardan Hellkite has aged a bit poorly, but so have thousands of cards over the last few years. I play it in one deck for two key reasons
1. It has 10 total power and toughness and
2. It has an ETB that can win me the game and impact the board.
2a. It works well with Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker

Re: rate commanders you've played for physical complication

My good friend loves his Kadena deck, but with morph, manifest, and disguise, I'm worried the tracking will become cumbersome. Plus having to look underneath all the face down cards often would be annoying to me. But he is infatuated with morph :unamused: Of the decks I'm playing now, nothing is too...

Re: Karador, Ghost Chieftain - Quest for Control

The only land abilities that would get cost reduced in my deck are Kor Haven, Volrath's Stronghold, and Rishadan Port.

Unless he reduces the cost of Takenuma, Abandoned Mire , Boseiju, Who Endures and other channel lands? If so, that is pretty cool.

Re: Karador, Ghost Chieftain - Quest for Control

WizardMN have you seen Blossoming Tortoise much lately? How have you liked it? I have one coming and want to temper expectations. I suspect if I get a hit on ETB, and a one swing into a blocker it will have served it's purpose. Also gets back dead utility lands or used channel lands instead of find...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Thicket Elemental

Yeah, I didn't say so in my previous post, but pretty bad in 2024. I was speaking from "back in the good old days" and it still didn't really measure up back then.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Thicket Elemental

Friday, March 15th, 2024; Thicket Elemental Man, I used to think this card was so rad back in 2003. I never see it pop up though (think I had it in Goreclaw). That's gotta be a pretty good rate yeah? Not so much. I've played Thicket Elemental back in battlecruiser commander, and paying [sym=4][sym=...

Good points. Pearl Medallion is a good one since Oketra's Monument has done so well for me. I need one of those.
