Probably not a factor, but if your two lands tap for at least , it combos off with Aggravated Assault.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Back to Basics

Sunday, March 24th 2024; Back to Basics Back to Basics|usg This, like so many other purported "anti-ramp"/"anti-greed" cards tends to fail at it's intended task. At least, in my experience, the rampant Ramper and 1k Manabase barely notice the interference and the tap-lands-budge...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Nezumi Graverobber

I don't think Bog and crypt work to flip him. The targeted card has to still be in the graveyard, or the ability is countered, right? I thought the technique of the day was to empty the yard, then use his ability on the first binned card after it was empty. . . That said,., I have this in my Mono-B...

Re: rate commanders you've played for physical complication

so which commanders have you found make your hands do a lot of work? I'm confused. Do you want to know which Generals make too much work, or which we enjoyed that were less "needy"? I'll just classify examples of each. . . Lots of game actions: Ghave, Guru of Spores Fungus Tribal - Spore ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Nature's Resurgence

It takes quite a bit of doing to get enough creatures in your bin to outdraw all your opponents, and then you're stuck thinking about wanting to run graveyard hate to prevent them from getting advantage, all for one stupid card. This^ The only time I have seen this perform well was in a Golgari Ley...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Body Snatcher

I always read it as needing to exile itself from the yard to reanimate, and dismissed it, but it all being one trigger means you can move.it somewhere else in response and still get the reanimate. What do people use to abuse this? The most common I saw in EDH of yesteryear was in Dimir with Body Sn...

Re: Trouble in Pairs - SCD

The thing that annoys me about Trouble in Pairs is that the flavor makes no sense to me. Okay, there's a troublesome pair of people, presumably the opposition given that the card triggers off opponents doing things "in pairs"...so why do we benefit from that? If it was, like, "double...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Exquisite Blood

I have this in my Garza Zol, Plague Queen Proliferating Vampires deck. Thanks to my policy of the last 12 years that "anything staplish or combo-ey" must match theme (e. g. Craterhoof is only allowed in Beast Tribal) this slots in Damage Triggers decks and Sanguine Bond I only allow in &qu...

what level of jank will you accept? First, please define what you mean by "jank" - is that what you would call this (admittedly old) example deck? (Labelled "example" at the bottom of the post) do you actually seek to build in a level of jank? Depends on the answer above. I seek...

Re: How frequently do you crack packs?

I used to buy all of the Commander Precons (2011-2018), stopped when they changed to follow Standard sets.
I also used to buy a fat pack a few times per year, just to support the LGS.

I have not purchased sealed product in any form since WotC Announced SL:TWD.

Re: Is Old Busted Still Busted?

Uril, the Miststalker and especially Mayael the Anima were never good exactly. We just didn't know better. Uril and Mayael are part of the old guard of a bygone era. I miss that time. I can recall (in the pre- Gahiji days) when my Beast Tribal was always Target #1 because Uril was the only Legendar...

Re: Non-Basic Land Soft Hosers

[*] A cantrip instant version of Ghost Quarter (which suffers from losing a land to remove a trouble non-basic) Field of Ruin and Demolition Field are basically Ghost Quarter cantrips. Re: Non-Basic Land Soft Hosers

As I've said before, what I would really like to start seeing is cards that are not symmetrical. The problem with cards like Blood Moon and Back to Basics is that they hurt the casual deck/mana screwed player far more than the rampant ramper. (tm) Whereas something like: An enchant player curse vers...

The problem is and always has been finding a group that builds like you do, or a store that supports you instead of treating you like a part of their next rent check or you're outta there, and players that don't look at you as an invader to their playgroup or just someone to be pwnd because they do...

what philosophies do you use when building? My version of "budget" is build with what I already own. I don't track prices enough to care about building by total value - and I don't track rarity changes enough to care about building by rarity. My deck "price" is $0 if I didn't bu...

Re: What basic lands do you run?

What basic land art to chose? Barring deck considerations (1) , I prefer to try using basics from whatever plane the Commander is from. I actually prefer to have no more than 2 lands share art, so a plane with more sets (Innistrad, Ravnica) will have every basic a different art, while things like I...

They look really neat. I like the idea of half-sized tokens, it kinda fits the theme of them being something other than regular creatures. Thanks for sharing! I might adapt that for my Battle Box. I had the best results with Avery 8471 . There are templates that help with alignment (printers vary t...

I make my own tokens. I create them in MSE2 and print them on Avery Business card stock, so they are half-size of regular cards.
Sometimes it's official art, sometimes pop-culture art references. Examples:
