Re: Sisay and Urza blow up the world

Are you familiar with RebellSon's Sisay Elk cEDH deck? That's another route you could take. It's accepted as a playable cEDH option. Teferi, Time Raveler is an important part of that list. Your version of Sisay Jegantha definitely gets more style points, though.

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I'm excited about Vohar, Vodalian Desecrator (stained glass) to use with Gyruda, Doom of Depths (as Gigan), & for Tor Wauki the Younger with Obosh, the Preypiercer . I have a set of decks for the eight companions allowed in the format & I've struggled with those two. Vohar's looting ability ...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I'm torn on whether to include Hazezon, Shaper of Sand in my Hazezon Tamar deck. On the one hand, the fact that new Hazezon makes Sand Warrior tokens makes it have minor negative synergy with the original. & Deserts are pretty bad for one's manabase. On the other hand, new Hazezon can potentiall...

Re: Companion Mechanic

I love the companion mechanic because of the adorable flavor & how the deckbuilding restrictions push to me to make lists in different ways & play cards I otherwise wouldn't. I'll be very said if they ban the companion mechanic in commander. I have a whole set of decks built around the eight...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

My Hazezon Tamar deck is excited for Professional Face-Breaker , Jaxis, the Troublemaker , & Jinnie Fay, Jetmir's Second . I particular like that Jaxis can copy Hazezon & that Jinnie's replacement effect is optional. Casting Hazezon & then immediately copying it & keeping the token &...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I'm excited for Go-Shintai of Life's Origin. I've wanted an enchantment commander with more colors to use with Umori, the Collector as companion. I'll have a blast as long as I don't run into Presence of the Master|Legends

I'm most interested in the Legendary Enchantment Creature – Snake Druid card. I'm all for more options for enchantment-matters decks. I assume it'll be just green, but I'm hoping for multicolor.

I'll note that Skirge Familiar and Titans' Nest function somewhat similarly, but turning your cards into mana at a 1:2 rate instead of a 1:1 rate is a pretty massive upgrade.
There's also Mind Over Matter, which can be an even better rate but isn't by default.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Cadaverous Bloom

I remain fond of Cadaverous Bloom because of its importance to the game's history. It helped make one of the first combo decks function. You can do the same old tricks with it in EDH. If you're not trying to win immediately, the card often isn't worth it. Currently, my copy has been going in & o...

Re: Dear commander design team

I haven't been playing EDH much since the pandemic began, though I keep working on my decks. I've been wondering whether the friendly, slow-paced games I remember still exist. Before the virus hit, I'd seen decks become more & more powerful locally. It got to the point that "casual" ga...

I'm a fan. In addition to what's already been mentioned, it's an Elf: one of the strongest creature types in the game. For instance, you can return it with Wirewood Symbiote for additional value.

Re: A Deck without Tutors

Personally, I've removed tutors from a number of my casual decks over the last year or two. I go so far as to eschew anything that causes a shuffle, because shuffling takes time & puts wear on sleeves. I find these decks easier & more fun to play as a result.

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

My The Ur-Dragon deck would have killed for Dragonborn Champion . A cheap Dragon that draws cards? Instant include. All these new Dragons make me want to put it back together, but I really need to limit myself. Thirty-six lists is more than enough. I can't see anywhere for Dragonborn Champion apart ...

Re: Ultimate Commander

Perhaps I'm stuck in my ways, but I dislike the idea of lowering starting life to 30 & of removing the format's color-identity restriction. Those changes would make EDH too different from what I know & love. Having to stick to your commander's colors adds flavor & allows unusual cards li...

Probably puts it too low on the totem pole for recursion options to make the cut anywhere.
I'll at least try Long Rest out in Rosheen Meanderer. Lower floor than Wildest Dreams but higher ceiling.

That Hydra land is another pick up for Rosheen.

My Rosheen Meanderer deck is happy about Treasure Vault . I like that Nylea's Intervention finds it. It won't come up too often, but I appreciate additional X costs. My Saskia the Unyielding Heroes' Podium deck may want Bard Class , Prosper, Tome-Bound , & Kalain, Reclusive Painter .

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

If you think that reasoning is valid, why couldn't it hold true in a 1v1 game? Do people not want mana in 1v1 games? Your opponent has other opponents in EDH. Based on both experience & theory, you can't treat EDH the same as you would 1v1. Having multiple opponents makes for different decision...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Giving your opponent a choice is a downside, not an upside. That one mana might end up being crucial. That ignores how these things tend to play out in practice in a multiplayer game. If, as I suspect, folks will often choose to sacrifice the enchanted permanent, that means less chance of the encha...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I suspect Minimus Containment will usually be better than Banishing Light because it encourages the controller of the enchanted permanent to sacrifice it, making it less likely to eventually return. I'd say it's about even with Oblivion Ring (thanks to Ring's sacrifice tricks to permanently exile th...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Minimus Containment looks potentially useful for decks that care about enchantments &/or auras. It's almost as good as Song of the Dryads but at common. Being able to sacrifice the enchanted permanent eliminates the feel-bad experience of having your commander trapped as a Forest (or 0/1 indest...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I like Dawnbringer Cleric for blink & ETB decks. I've long considered playing Monk Realist & company, but found the effect a little too narrow. This pushes it over the edge. In my experience, enchantments are one of the scariest permanent types in the format. Being able to remove a Mirari's ...

Re: Disrupt - Worth it?

Disrupt is a weak cantrip - you can't cast it unless an opponent casts an instant or sorcery, This is false. You can cast it targeting your own instant or sorcery, pay the 1 , & draw a card. I like Disrupt in theory, especially in decks that run mana denial. I haven't played much with it yet, b...

Re: Are time warps secretly traps?

There are a few hate cards to stop extra turns but they are literally horrible cards that do almost nothing else. Stranglehold is a rather useful anti-extra turns card. I find the anti-search part of it to be way more relevant most of the time but it is certainly pretty playable. Ugin's Nexus is th...

Re: Are time warps secretly traps?

Extra-turn effects almost never appear in cEDH apart from a few decks that focus on them. Tatyova, Benthic Druid would be example of possible cEDH Turns commander; Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow & Edric, Spymaster of Trest would be a couple other options. Some Tatyova decks will play a single Tempor...
