Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control

I'm more surprised by the lack of Archmage's Charm but I don't see where to fit them when I look at the list.

Re: [Deck] Jeskai Control

There's not much to share. I'm just seeing all the worst matchups on MTGO right now. Dredge, Tron, Titan variants. Not to mention the R/X prowess variants all seems pretty spicy right now. The Jeskai Flagstones (deck or whatever you wanna call it) seems slow or irrelevant against most of those. I'd ...

Re: [Deck] Jeskai Control

Interesting. Based on what I'm seeing, I came to a different conclusion.

Re: [Deck] Humans

I've had a one-of Big Thalia in my sideboard when Hogaak got banned specifically for Tron. I keep trying to fit a second one in, but it's hard.

I never considered what it does against Whirza though. I'm not so sure it's that good against Scapeshift.

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control

Having multiple Jaces now isn't so bad depending on the number of Forces of Negation you're playing.

Re: [Deck] Jeskai Control

But they're both hot garbage against Tron. I guess no one really knows but I was thunking Big Mana decks might vecome prevalent again. I was hoping fast aggro decks were coming with it. I guess that's just forcing it though

Re: [Deck] Jeskai Control

Yea, I know tempo works but I'm unsure of that build in a midrange field

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control

I think it has happened at least twice in the last month or so: an otherwise typical Esper control deck claims a (5-0) MTGO Modern League result, except, the player drops a planeswalker for a Torrential Gearhulk. What does everyone think about this maneuver right now? Please help me understand the ...

Re: [Deck] Jeskai Control

Is there any chance that Jeskai control is remotely playable again now? Other than big mana decks, are there other small or fast creature decks that become more viable now?

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control

As you said, there's generally a specific effect you're looking for, so why not pay one less to get just that effect? Alliance actually hits attackers as well, so you don't get hosed by a Birds of Paradise. In my case, I generally want at least two effects. Otherwise, there are better spells for ei...

Re: [Deck] Humans

Giver of Runes is hot garbage in Humans. It's not aggressive and definitely doesn't fix any specific problems. I guess we'll just have to disagree on Unsettled Mariner vs Tajic. Tajic goes down like every other thing in the deck so I really don't know how that's a point for it over Mariner. It reall...

Re: [Deck] Humans

I'm not so sure Wrenn and Six will thrive in a post-Hogaak world. Even if that ends up becoming an issue, Unsettled Mariner seems far better than Tajic.

Re: [Deck] Jeskai Control

Strong against Tron, Eldrazi Tron, UW Control, Jund (hit any walker for three EOT), Mardu Shadow, Grixis Urza. When it's bad, it still acts as a pseudo discard spell with flash, and in g2 you cut it. Again, I think it's the best singleton in the deck, I strongly disagree. The only decks I would wan...

Re: [Deck] Jeskai Control

Wrenns and Lava Darts/Gut Shots everywhere, and it really doesn't seem to stack up against the top decks right now.

Re: [Deck] Jeskai Control

Vendilion Clique just seems straight bad in this metagame. Even if I were to play Jeskai tempo, I don't think I would end up playing that card.

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control

Whew. Coming from the shadows with some fire! Well I have a question about the metagame: How many of you still build your deck with Hogaak in mind and how many of you just build as if it's just another deck? Even though I'm seeing a lot of Hogaak still running around online, I'm also seeing a lot of...

I tried it. I'm not overly impressed with the card, but I don't think it's garbage either. I feel like it has a place in Jund for attacking certain kinds of decks.
