Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Celestial Dawn

Thank god they changed the color identity rules to make this thing actually fair. I remember this being hot zedruu tech in the early 2010s because you could straight up lock an opponent out of colored mana if they weren't already in white. Now, finally, years later, this card just does what it says ...

Re: [SCD] Pip-Boy 3000

I bought the Scrappy Survivors precon to ugrade and the Pip Boy has been good in testing. It essentially equips for zero at the cost of doing net nothing on first swing, and after that it filters cards, stacks some stat buffs (that conveniently stick on the creature even after moving the pip boy), o...

Oh wait that's any card, I thought it was just your cards. Geez. Just main this with Stone of Erech that's Sagable and let this thing carry you. Geez.
The "one or more" clause limits the utility of mass grave hate. You could exile thirty cards and still only get one time counter.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - The War Doctor

I think the major thing I dislike about this is the time required to reset after removal. If it worked with experience counters or energy I think it would be much stronger.

Just play Sneak Attack. It does the same thing as AR's ideal outcome 100% of the time. It also costs like 6 bucks these days.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Grave-Shell Scarab

I liked this in Henzie "Toolbox" Torre. It beats, it retreats, and keeps your hand fueled. It wasn't a standout roleplayer or anything, but it fulfilled its niche well enough.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Bogardan Hellkite

I loved this card in the old UR Dragonstorm deck, what an elegant wincon. But 8 mana can do so much better these days. Flash is this thing's only saving grace now.

Re: rate commanders you've played for physical complication

Most of my decks just wanna swing, but I built a real bookkeeping nightmare with my The Fourth Doctor / Sarah Jane Smith deck. The whole idea was to %$#% out as many artifact tokens as possible and then use them with Clock of Omens , Unwinding Clock , etc to turbo through dungeons with Immovable Rod...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Odric, Blood-Cursed

If we skipped the whole keyword collecting nonsense, how much blood would a 3 drop need to make to be worth it? 3? 4? 5+? I'm not sure what the rate should be, blood is harder to measure than clues or treasure.

Re: Taste the Rainbow, Wield the Rainbow

Despite having a landbase with nearly all the trimmings (save OG duals), I've never been able to build a 5c deck with any degree of satisfaction. I get decision paralysis with so many cards and strategies to choose from and I'm bad at self-limitation. The last time I tried was a 5c Lands deck built ...

I'm really hoping there's no strong payoff for crimes in Outlaws of Thunder Junction, considering how apparently our whole incentive engine is criminal under multiversal law. Wouldn't want people assuming we're up to no good :P

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Fire Covenant

This card is solid for sweeping up little goons, but trying to pick apart a decently sized boardstate with this thing will hurt pretty bad. It has its niche, but I wouldn't autoinclude it unless I had a decent idea of what I was up against consistently. It certainly kicked Raffine's ass though. 1 ca...

So,due to budget issues that would have happened with owning a car, I got a scooter/moped https://www.enworld.org/attachments/img_20240313_120853-jpg.351476/ Make sure you wear your helmet, a jacket, and some thick pants. Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

I kinda want to play an aggro deck. A true low curve smash face kind of deck. Any suggestions? I was thinking of Anim Pakal, Thousandth Moon . I want to play dudes and hit face Isshin, Two Heavens as One would be my choice. Nice low cost, three solid colors, technically overstatted, and comes which...

Re: ISB Raffine

I have been giving some serious thought to turning my Breena deck into Raffine; too much winning on the stack goes on in my meta lately, so having outs to that is becoming important :( Not being able to counter an Expropriate is just backbreaking for a slow grow deck. With that in mind I had a ques...

Friday, March 8th, 2024; Plague Engineer|h1r Plague Engineer|h1r I love having an engineered plague|ulg I can bring back with dread return tbh. Re: Avacyn, Angel of Hope - Mono-White 'Control'

I think 40 is the right number of lands. With a 8 drop in the CZ, every bit of mana counts. When I was playing Maelstrom Wanderer I was playing forty lands and like 30% of the nonlands in that deck were pure ramp. Counting to 8 isn't enough, you gotta be also able to hit 10 and 12 just in case.

The lack of love for Airplane! is baffling me. While some of the jokes are of their time, that movie never fails to make me laugh. Surely I shouldn't have to defend Airplane! It's a classic! I also adore that movie, but there's no accounting for taste. Admittedly a bunch of the jokes have aged like...

DirkGently I think a major throughline on this forum has been the community learning how to interact with each other. Boros_Blendo I forgot about Spellbreaker Behemoth , that card is truly sick. Hulking Raptor is also insane and I must have missed it in all the spoilers. Both worthy includes for sure. As for rocks vs lands, I have just found that the momentary tempo gain from early rocks hasn't outwieghed the valu...

I'd grade B+, but still progress.
