Re: Pack to Power: commander style!
There was a group that went fairly deep into this in the MTG Marketplace Discord. The issues were as you saw, have to find people willing to "trade down" for you to make any progress. I always wanted to build a Booster Box deck, where I start the deck from cards I received in a box. Every ...

Re: Kenrith Mid-Range
Disagreement can be good, as it means the format isn't linear. If you can get a Faeburrow Elder to fly under the radar, good on you. I think my main gripe with Ad Naus is that I just cut it to see how life works without it. Utopia Sprawl is much better than Arcane Signet. Show off your Ancient Tomb ...

Re: Kenrith Mid-Range
Hey benjameenbear , I overall like the list. There are a few things that stand out to me however. Faeburrow Elder - Great card, I personally run it in my not as high power lists. Tapping for 5 man is pretty strong! However, how often will you have all 5 color's of permanents in play? In my experienc...

Re: Kenrith Mid-Range
I don't expect much to change except a reversal to where we were before CML. Hullbreacher never did anything wrong, especially if you bring interaction to the table....oh well. I'm beating a dead horse over here. Personally not a fan of Notion Thief, but I also don't like anything over 3 CMC. Guess ...

Re: Problem Commanders: Do You Play Them?
Yeah, I've sat down many a time and assessed threats with only the commanders to go on, seen an obviously dominant threat and targeted that player to death first, before they could get off the ground. At which point they complained that they hadn't built the busted version of the deck, and why am I...

Re: Problem Commanders: Do You Play Them?
At 1 point or another I have had pretty much all the problem commanders. I've ran multiple instances of Golos and Kenrith. I currently have an Esika, God of the Tree // The Prismatic Bridge deck with Kenrith as the secret commander. I used to run Urza, Lord High Artificer , and have been in the proc...

Re: July 2021 Banlist Announcement
Personally don't agree with this one bit, but I also didn't agree with Flash ban. I guess if the content creators call for it, it will happen. Its a strong stax piece, but no stronger than say the Orb lineup. Oh well. If Winter Orb was printed today, I fully believe it would be banned with how much ...

Re: Kenrith Mid-Range
Yeah, I remember watching a Najeela deck from the Playing with Power YouTube channel and being VERY impressed with its resiliency and simultaneous pressure capabilities. I picked up a copy when she was spoiled because I saw her potential, but never got around to building her. After I watched that v...

Re: Kalamax, Breaking the Space-Time Continuum with LIGHTNING
Kalamax I feel can easily slide into a cEDH slot, but is very much "protect the general" as he gets the ball rolling. Friend of mine has a high-power kalamax that quickly gets out of control. If he wasn't against counterspells, I don't believe we would ever be able to play the game.

Re: Kenrith Mid-Range
benjameenbear Absolutely! So, to start with my online list isn't fully updated (as I said, took an extended leave to fix my mental), and didn't realize you would look at her lol. Anyway, my paper list does have Ignoble Heirarch, and I'm on the hunt for a Toski. I have heavily blinged my deck so wan...

What's up @UnNamed1. Good to see you! Hey, thanks man. I took a major break, mentally was taking a dive. But I'm back and have a Veyran, Voice of Duality brew in the works... ;) Honestly, this list is just a placeholder list for a 5-color Mid-Range style list. I'm actually piloting a Najeela list a...

Re: Kenrith Mid-Range
My thoughts on a Kenrith deck are this, have FUN. Because of his all inclusive ability, all you have to do is generate mana and you get ahead. Personally I have ran a Evolution style decklist with him and a Midrange/control list. Both get to the point insanely fast and consistently. Right now, he is...

Re: Memnarch, Stealer of Games
For sure. I just checked the price of the Archaic and it's sitting around the $15-$16 range. Glad I preordered mine when it was $6, lol. Oh yeah, I would HATE to try and unravel the stack if multiple Archaics. Thank goodness that the Archaic doesn't trigger on when opponents COPY spells... I'm glad...

Re: Totally non-bias opinions only ;) how would cEDH react to banning the top tutors?
Finally, I want to say my thoughts on your (and probably many players) avoidance of cEDH. I was there, I wanted the long games of commander. Once I started playing cEDH i realized, those games take just as long but there is a LOT more going on. cEDH is played on the stack, casual is played on the b...

Re: Memnarch, Stealer of Games
I see the Archaic as being super valuable in decks that don't have access to Black tutors, who want to take a more controlling approach to their strategy, or who are more dedicated to Stax builds. As someone recently mentioned (can't remember who) cEDH games are typically won on the stack and the A...

@insomnia Thanks for checking in! Me and my loved ones are indeed healthy and doing well! Yeah, I took out Lithoform Engine and haven't missed it at all, so that cut is going to be permanent. I'm glad you're still playing Memnarch! He's da best. Yeah, Kaldheim wasn't particularly good for mono-Blue...

Re: [SCD] Hullbreacher
1 out of 4 people get blown out, the other 2 people react and play around the card. How would this be any different than if your spell gets countered? By a free counterspell no less so they lost 0 mana to do so? The entire table now having to play around it is pretty significantly different from wh...

Re: [SCD] Hullbreacher
Hullbreacher is a strong card, but only because players are used to drawing as many cards as they want without consequences. The consequences of drawing cards in commander is you pay mana (tempo) to do it. Now you get blown the frick out by a 3 mana powerhouse 1 out of 4 people get blown out, the o...

Re: Totally non-bias opinions only ;) how would cEDH react to banning the top tutors?
I have long maintained that tutors go against the spirit of singleton, and if I had it my way I would ban the strongest tutors in the format. I think the more people are tutoring, the more casual metas creep into stronger metas. It is easier to win out of nowhere. It is easier to put combos in the ...

Re: [SCD] Hullbreacher
Here are my 2 cents, and I know I'll probably disagree with a lot of people here. Hullbreacher should stay unbanned. Hullbreacher slows down the game, and that's a good thing. Does it suck if you suddenly are negative a card and your opponent got 3 mana for spending....3 mana? Yeah. But most people ...

Re: [SCD] Dockside Extortionist
I wouldn't be sorry to see it go, though, its not good for the format and ramps too hard midgame (turns 3-6). Netting 6-8 treasures during those turns is too much, and it does so too consistently, and its on the border of too fast. So is Smothering Tithe bannable as well? Because say no fast mana r...

Re: Strixhaven First Thoughts
With 70ish cards left to go, I still feel really good about this set. It looks fun, for all formats. Just a quick glance shows that you can draft this well and there seems to be plenty of cards that will be useful in standard. Commander is the only other format I am interested in, and there are plen...

Re: SCD: Golos, Tired-Ass Pilgrim
I will say this and only this about Golos. The matchup is boring 90% of the time. He has a braindead linear plan, and that is to ETB, get a land and use his ability and hope for the best. The pilots have "deniability" as its "chance" as to what they hit. They get salty if you shu...
