Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)

I guess folks forgot GY hate, land hate, or extraction exists? A card that in a vacuum is coming online 'late' by modern standards is too much? Look at the deck you are playing. Format simply became a monstrosity. Glad you are able to enjoy it, but Wizards screwed the format over years ago. If that...

Re: Update from Rules Committee re: The Walking Dead Cards

I find it better for the community to Splinter even further.. if it's not differing ideas whether the RC or Wizards are correct regardless of argument, its the social norms.

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)

About this issue: MaRo just said that they could reprint them and consider this as the godzilla cards. The eventual reprints won't be the copies 5-8, but these actual cards. https://markrosewater.tumblr.com/post/630817826313273344/some-answers I saw that, this is an important distinction that I thi...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)

Any chance Valakut Exploration can find a home in modern? It looks like a decent card. Should be easy to activate with all the fetch we have here. znr-175-valakut-exploration.jpg Maybe. We had Chandra, Pyromaster be playable for a while, as well as the enchantment that was a similar effect. The for...

Re: Many MTG Player's ask: Is the reserved list a load of bull?

I honestly believe that the reserve list serves no purpose except guide the design of digital offerings while allowing creators of proxies or fakes take in the dough for paper. Pretty sure there's a third party site that makes it easy for anyone to print their own home made proxies too.

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)

They are not printing land hate that kills your opponent's lands and leaves you land positive, Cleansing WF is good, but it is not something used early game to leave you land up. They don't want that stuff, so what they are printing is tolerance cards to avoid another field of the dead scenario.......

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)

I've been getting Zendikar vibes from this set, feels more focused and powerful than BFZ. The set proves that fetchlands shouldn't be in standard with anything taking advantage of such cards. A shame we won't be seeing fetches getting a meaningful standard reprint. Imagine fetches interacting with t...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)

Fetchlands are trilands though. The flip lands also do come with a downside if you play Cryptic Command and Supreme Verdict in the same deck. I can see them being playable but fetches and shocks are just hard to top. Speaking of which, Confounding Conondrum is on my worry list. Very easily mainboar...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

If Tron ever as a deck with something it would be either to hit the enablers if they want to see Tron lands push the appeal of high cmc spells (especially colorless) for modern. If the ever feel that it's deemed unfun or problematic to deal with in a metagame context (if they feel cards meant to be ...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

War of the Spark planeswalkers were horribly designed solely for the fact they didn't print efficient pw killers like Deadbore and Red Elemental Blast within the same standard rotation that also included flexible mana fixing. One brilliant part of the design of several of them with static abilities...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

Those parts of the game are being phased out more and more. WotC has an idea of what players enjoy in Magic and they have felt for a long time that Prison, especially hard Prison, is not that I'm not sure that's accurate, because they've printed several creatures and PW's that implement aspects of ...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

Serious question: Why does this thread revolve around unban Twin or some other cards only? I mean, there are things more important to those unimportant stuff. Cards that are banned, are banned for a reason and probably belong in the banlist. We could talk about what decks could be the best Modern d...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

I am sorry but I fail to see how Mox Opal is not a jusfied ban. I understand the frustration of the people playing artifact decks in general, but, with the exception of Affinity, Mox Opal never allowed for any non-toxic decks to exist. Mox Opal is a similar case to Probe in my opinion. It was just ...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

Wouldn't be surprised if Wizards inconsistencies with ban lists metrics might have to do with them not bothering to keep things consistent. When it comes to PR with cards like Nexus of Fate i.e. At one point they wouldn't ban it for standard outright but removed from a queue of Arena to minimize its...

I asked politely numerous times. I said that because I am sick and tired of you droning on endlessly about how much vast experience you have, yet you refuse to even show the slightest bit of information about that experience. Lists? Matchups? Win rates? Recorded matches? Nothing. So why should anyo...

It's clear Wizards philosophy of only designing threats and consistency while not printing appropriate...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

Trumpet of sadness. And no indication that anything will change any time soon. Typical Wizards. Inverter is fine in Pioneer, but f**k Twin, AMIRITE? Wizards even acknowledged the community discontent about these formats but claims the MTGO win rates don't align with the dissatisfaction. Yikes. Yike...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

Banning Astrolabe does what? Destroy the best interactive decks? ... I'd much rather have interactive Snow piles punishing the linear degenerate decks then simply let them run rampant. I'm kinda tired of reading 'interactive' when you simply mean 'run counterspells'. The only interactive bits in sn...

Re: Wizards breaks ties with Terese Nielsen

People can cry persecution or say it's a violation of free speech, but that doesn't apply since the government's not involved. If you hold views that assign other humans lower values than others, then be prepared for the professional and personal consequences of being truly, truly awful. Finally so...

Re: Wizards breaks ties with Terese Nielsen

I have no idea why people throw a random term such as TERF. Whenever a conversation involves someone like Terese Nielsen. All I know is that I'm tired of hearing about real life witch hunts in a card game about Wizards slinging spells.

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

In a world in which Blue is playable, it's probably OK. I force Quench in Arena though, so what do I know. :p Modern game design favors tempo plays and best of 1 format encourages players to play either the best things or the counterplay. Anyway. As someone who had played Yugioh before dropping som...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

I disagree with the ban, because it shows Wizards doesn't really care about paying attention to the metagame for modern at all till they have reason to.. Wouldn't surprise me that they only pay attention when Modern starts to give out low income on MTGO, Twitter outcry second. Whereas th every are h...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

Why are they printing stuff like Azusa and Ugin instead of those cards? If any type of ramp is viable, Ugin, the Spirit Dragon is going to be a pain in the ass. You think we needed better answers to planeswalkers before? No, now we literally need, 0: destroy target planeswalker, draw a card. Angeli...
