Re: Jodah: A Modular Ode to EDH

Folks: thanks so much for the conversation, criticism, and enthusiasm about this deck and my high-power Kruphix list. I've decided to stop updating these primers here in order to centralize all my decklists and primers at Moxfield. You can find them all here , including my recent popular competitive...

Re: Kruphix: The Maximal Amount of A Good Thing

SaintForthigan That's lovely to hear! I'm not surprised that folks went for the straight-up combo lines—I now present this deck as "tutorless big mana combo—or hug." But it takes a very real discipline to stick with hug. :) I'm excited to see how the deck adapts for ya! Thanks so much for...

@benjameenbear Really happy to hear that, man. And congratulations on your continued recovery; that's awesome!

That's good feedback! What style or form of game recaps do you enjoy the most?

DO IT (if you wanna, lol).

Re: Jodah: A Modular Ode to EDH

Hi, folks! A pretty big update for this deck. First of all: my friends and I started a YouTube channel, called Stacked EDH, for concise videos about casual and competitive Commander. So far we've got gameplay vids, a video essay on Commander and mental health, and a deck tech for our very own Brodah...

Re: Jodah: A Modular Ode to EDH

@sweetwaterbob "a mini cube situation" — I hadn't thought of that, but that's so precise. I love it!

I'm glad this list got you going. And your Golos builds sound interesting. Very cool! Thanks for reading and commenting.

Re: Kruphix: The Maximal Amount of A Good Thing

Hi folks! I've made a bunch of changes to Kruphix, and more importantly: I've made a huge revision to this primer! What prompted these changes? Well, I dismantled 4 out of 6 of my EDH decks, leaving myself just this list and my Jodah deck (which has a primer on Nexus right over here ). So a lot of p...

Re: Jodah: A Modular Ode to EDH

Hi folks! I've made a LOT of changes to this list. The biggest changes: I've cut the mid-power decks' only infinite-ish combo (by cutting Conflux ); I've made a handful of impactful changes to the core 80 cards; and I've added an entirely new, """cEDH""" (or cEDHjacent)...

Re: Grenzo, Dungeon Warden - The Slot Machine of Value

I plan to test Ogre Slumlord and Blood Artist (as an additional aristocrats payoff source that's low-CMC/doesn't feel bad to cast from hand in a pinch) soon. I've already removed Nim Deathmantle and Thornbite Staff for Mox Amber and another Creature—so I'm completely devoted to the "flip until ...

Re: Kruphix: The Maximal Amount of A Good Thing

You ever done the effectively ten mana Divination yet? :P Hah! I have indeed! But never out of an actual need to; I only drew a couple cards looking for an "out" in a game in Hug mode where I wasn't playing to win. This Kruphix build is strange because it can accrue value and protect itse...

Re: Kruphix: The Maximal Amount of A Good Thing

@benjameenbear In my experience, 7 in Kruphix isn't much of a demand. So yes, it's definitely been worth it in my experience, but Kruphix is uniquely good at generating double-digits worth of banked mana each game. So in a leaner, more efficient deck, I'm not sure Orrery would be worth it.

Re: Kruphix: The Maximal Amount of A Good Thing

Made a little update to the changelog. Of note: I've been very, very impressed by Chromatic Orrery in this deck. If it comes down early, it nearly pays for itself. It's drawn me two cards in a pinch. It's absurdly good with Mirage Mirror as a way of banking more mana fast. A much better and more ver...

Re: Jodah: A Modular Ode to EDH

@benjameenbear I like Notion Thief for Mosh Pit! "Fun!"

I'm disinclined to run Wishclaw in Posi Vibes, though, because it's targeted/Kingmakery.

Re: Jodah: A Modular Ode to EDH

MeowZeDung Excellent news about your desire to make a modal Jeskai deck! I'm excited to see it. I rarely encounter mana screw, even with an average CMC (of the core 80) around 4. Although I'm always scouting for more low-costed, efficient cards with a high ceiling (like Dockside Extortionist ) to i...

Re: Jodah: A Modular Ode to EDH

MeowZeDung The deck was originally a Chaos build, then a 5-color Good & Big Stuff build as I disassembled decks (because I'd throw the good/staple cards into Jodah), and then I learned about someone's modular Mayael deck and thought, "That sounds fun!" As soon as I decided I wanted a ...

Re: Grenzo, Dungeon Warden - The Slot Machine of Value

A snowfox54119 update day is a good day. I like your new edits and the streamlined and updated primer! You've got me considering making a few changes to my list: cutting Dread Return (which has also often felt dead in my experience); replacing the slow-but-Scry lands like Spinerock Knoll and Temple ...

Re: Kruphix - The Maximal Amount of A Good Thing

jaishivajai Hello! This deck wins by decking its opponents. More often than not, I don't have Abundance on the field when I have enough mana to kill my opponents with a targeted draw spell like Braingeyser . Also, Library of Leng and Windfall in the mid- to late-game is a sneaky winning play. And I...

Re: Grenzo, Dungeon Warden - The Slot Machine of Value

Just a quick note to say that I prefer Blood Artist over Falkenrath Noble for another "dies" trigger creature. Blood Artist feels much less bad to cast from hand, and can be flipped even if Grenzo's power is 1 for Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite reasons.

Re: Kruphix - The Maximal Amount of A Good Thing

I gave this primer a decent-sized update! Quite a few revisions (though none alter substantially the goal or lines of the deck). Core 2021 has two promising cards for Kruphix so far: Teferi's Ageless Insight and Chromatic Orrery ! The former does have two blue pips which I'm not thrilled about; it a...
