Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)

Id be happy with an omnath ban and a companion ban/errata while keeping wren and six and expressive iteration, but anything could happen tomorrow. Hopefully, they just unban multiple cards. Id prefer to see how the 4color decks evolve without Omnath more than anything though,

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)

Glimpse of nature should come off the banned list 100%. The power imbalance between new nonsense and decks people actually like to play should be closed further. Elves players deserve something that helps them contend with fury. Let these MH2 fanirling spikes who want to buy into the best deck get p...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)

I have taken my cryptic commands out of my faeries list and put them in my metagame toolkit. The removal of the card is due to the logic that if the red 1drops are speeding up the pace of the format then far has no time for it. I have to ask a general consensus of if the format will hit a point wher...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)

what do you all think of using 2x The Underworld Cookbook as an engine in Izzet Phoenix decks as another possible engine. This is just an idea I am level 1 theorizing but I like the idea of having a cheap consistent discard outlet that could into a removal engine and lifegain for aggressive decks. M...

Re: [Official] Modern Prices Discussion

oh my... Auriok Champion at 40 dollars each.. I thought the card was weak years ago. Is it part of a strong deck now? Heliod Company would be said strong deck iirc. its 2 white pips for heliod, sun-crowned AND helps the ballista kill by gaining you 1 life to add the extra counter to walking ballista

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)

I'd still be very careful with unbanning it. It's insanely powerful and the whole game basically revolves around that card as soon as it drops. It's just very "unfun" to play against. (And yes I know that's the most vague reasoning for not liking a card, but hey, Mycosynth Lattice was ban...

https://twitter.com/Supersound120/status/1388294234210504707 I asked for a bit more perspective because Ari is on two modern focused podcasts that are excellently crafted, and has been in this format for as long as I can remember. Shamans got a 2/1 burning tree shaman that firebreathes for 2 mana. I wish the deck got a good 1drop though. Shame all we got was hall monitor, the best joke of the set.

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)

Counterspell would be a lovely low bar addition that would make little difference in real-world, but WOTC will make a HUGE deal about it! I suspect it would be a 2-3 of, not a 4 of. Personally, I'm hoping for Cloud of Faeries just as I was with MH1. A similar card that costs 2 mana or less would al...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)

By the looks of this meta would you say that a deck like faeries can get away with collective brutality main with thoughtseize sb? It serves purpose trading value for dead bitterblossom and fuels cling to dust to create a life buffer for the strategy, but it's often too minor impact for maindeck.

Open the discussion on twitter and lets see where this goes :? . I would be happy to have jitte back and I play Faeries, the deck that gets absolutely wrecked by one that resolves, but also plays it very well, I am happy to dance around this double edged sword. They wanted to power up white, so that...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)

I dont think its modern but I could be wrong, as bans are part player perception too. Im playing scapeshift again after years of putting the deck down. I took the risk, so I'm riding this out for as long as is possible, but uro definitely powered the deck up. Id prefer not to have growth spiral god ...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

So Bryan of the Arena Decklists podcast believes that the astrolabe ban was the correct ban but may have been too early as we hadnt seen the counterplay rise to contend with the simic value midrange piles, and while I dont necessarily agree with the idea of "too early", I can see evidence ...

Truthfully I think if wizards takes notice of the project and it is a push for change then it would have done its job for me. Not to mention the data that comes with participating in such a project. and people have been voicing their concerns with WotC, they still will. But I'm looking to see if the...

Im not against keeping astrolabe at all, but i dont have the full perspective of the effects that occur without it, and it seemed to be identified as part of the problem.
