Re: How frequently do you crack packs?
I almost never open packs anymore, I buy all the singles I need on release. Back when I heavily played Standard, from Innistrad through Theros, after almost every event the whole LGS got together and cracked packs. Highest value card would win them all, in a tie you open another. Talk about gambling...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
I just missed Primeval Titan being legal but I was around when Sylvan Primordial was running rampant. It was the best creature in my Omnath, Locus of Mana just casting it for the full cost and it was the first tutor and/or reanimate target in Karador, Ghost Chieftain . And since the effect wasn't op...

Yay on Sculpting Steel . Soft nay on Hangarback Walker , I don't really see how it helps our game plan. Nay on Khalni Gem , why would we want this effect with such an insane drawback. We still haven't used Hedron Archive , Ichor Elixir , Sisay's Ring , Stonespeaker Crystal , Ur-Golem's Eye or Worn P...

Re: Braids' Nightmares
Another Braids enthusiast chiming in! First of all, how is Bloodchief Ascension for you? I wanted to try it but it doesn't trigger if you didn't deal damage before the end step and I think it's a little clunky with Braids' trigger. A few suggestions that have worked great for me: Hopeless Nightmare ...

Yay on Skittering Cicada although I do think it should replace the myr.
Nay on Reality Smasher, I can't see how it helps us that much.
Nay on Winter Orb, even if we disregard the social aspect of the format I don't understand how we break the symmetry on this one.

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
Just a bit off-topic, but my mind has been reeling for the past 6 hours or so because I thought the set's name was Murders At Markov Manor and I was like "man, I understand utilizing the omenpaths but this a bit too far, we've got two paruns from Ravnica in the first batch and nobody from Inni...

Yay on Warping Wail
For my nomination I want to suggest adding some of the bombs typical colorless decks run. Let's start with a new one, Rise of the Eldrazi.

Nay on Lifeline, I don't think we can leverage that more than the aristocrats decks out there.
For my nomination I will suggest Oblivion Sower, easy on the mana and it may act as a win con down the line.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - The Filter Lands
For a long time these were more expensive than shocks and were first printed when I wasn't playing, making them not worth picking up. My ranking for dual lands without types is bonds, pains, slows, checks then these, so I need some synergy to run them in three color decks. My elf deck needs untapped...

Re: @mtgnexus Community Deck Project v10.0
I must admit I have no clue how to build a colorless deck.
Nay on Inspiring Statuary, I think by definition we will lean a lot on artifacts and I don't want to run something counterintuitive to that.
For my nomination let's go with something safe like Thran Dynamo.

Yay on Unexpectedly Absent . Nay on Boros Charm ,as I said I am not a fan of the effect, Flawless Maneuver gets a pass because it's free. Nay on Swift Reconfiguration , I think it's a bit niche. For my nomination I present Stone of Erech . It shuts down the decks that use the grave for value while s...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v9.0
Yay on Dismember . I don't understand Black Market Connections ' popularity. It seemed like the hivemind reached a consensus that Phyrexian Arena is too slow, almost unplayable. And then we get a variant with a similar power level (imo at least) and it climbs to 30€. I don't see any reason to run th...

Nay on Lightning Bolt . Don't get me wrong, Bolt has a place in the format but that place is as a synergy piece in a spellslinger deck, not as an individual removal piece. I would much rather ran Infernal Grasp first. Both of these cards are not powerful enough to warrant inclusion on their own. I l...

Yay on Painful Truths. Efficient card draw is good.
Nay on Read the Bones.
Nay on Mardu Ascendancy. Getting just a few goblins doesn't move the needle for me.
Since I don't have much inspiration today, I'll go with something safe like Night's Whisper.

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
I hate UB so much. It's taking away from the actual magic sets and destroying the flavor of the game. I wouldn't go as far as hate but I share your feelings. I refuse to use any cards depicting modern concepts, no matter how much I like W40K. I also cannot run any named cards from LotR. I tried to ...

Yay on Goblin Motivator. Haste is the best keyword in Commander.
For my turn I want to nominate Decadent Dragon // Expensive Taste. We could use the CA and the creature side can provide some value down the line.
