Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)

even though I'm pretty happy with the decision to not ban anything today, I would have liked to have seen an unban. But I guess the format is pretty diverse now, so why mess with it It's not exactly "mess with it" more so than "damn this is annoying" I can see the logic wizards ...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)

My prediction for tomorrow

Ban Lurrus of the Dream-Den/All Companions cannot be played as Companions in Competitive formats anymore, Ban Sigarda's Aid

Potential Unbans - Punishing Fire, Original Artifact Lands (If they choose to ban Urza's Saga)

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)

If I were in the position of power, based off of my experience through online grinding and all the results I've come across mixed in with my emotion just simply watching some games I would make the following changes to Modern: Ban - Sigarda's Aid & All companions Unban - None at this time JFC, ...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/13/2020)

Played in a Local 1k with 60 participants and the Calgary F2F with 127 participants, the top 8 is being submitted as I am typing this. The local 1k had a pretty diverse metagame, played against a different deck each round, all pretty fun and interactive matches. The F2F was something completely diff...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 01/13/2020)

I have to share my quick distaste for more powerful removal such as Swords to Plowshares existing in Modern. Death's Shadow is a really unique deck in the format, losing two of them to the same singular spell is just beyond ridiculous.

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 01/13/2020)

I'll ignore the Twin analogy, and instead focus on Ballista itself. Are there any highly played removal spells that don't kill a Ballista on 2? (First off, obv, Heliod being an indestructible enchantment is almost impervious to cards normally played.) Ballista survives most removal played in moderm...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 01/13/2020)

The issue with removal is that one for ones are bad because threats all have value stapled to them, actively create tempo, or are resilient in some capacity. Some threats do multiple of those things. It's blasphemy to staple value to removal though- in fact, many "good" removal spells are...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

Well it finally happened, the banning I've clamoured for on forums for years. Mox Opal is finally done. Coming from a long standing affinity player - thank god Wizards finally did something correct. The truth is, with Mox Opal being banned, we can finally look towards Simian Spirit Guide as the only...

Re: Boss Naya Midrange

Wrenn and Six seems to cover those bases that the old Standard combination of Cunning Sparkmage and Basilisk Collar would provide, meanwhile giving the deck a new angle with Knight of the Reliquary.
