Re: Topical Discussion of the Official Multiplayer Ban List

Why would someone have a problem with a original magic card that was distributed worldwide? comparing a premium product exclusive and cards that were avaliable in packs is comparing two different things Because they're both products with artificial scarcity, If your objection is "I'm a budget ...

Re: Topical Discussion of the Official Multiplayer Ban List

Ha, yeah. There'll probably be a few about, but I generally don't play with collector types so I probably won't see em. As someone who definitely plays with budget constraint (I can afford a few bits but I can't just throw money at the game), I'm not sure I'd be able to remain quiet about it. I'm c...

Re: New keyword action: Supply

I wasn't sure what you were going for there until I put that side by side with the original reminder text: Supply N (Put N +1/+1 counters on your supply. Whenever a creature enters the battelfield under your control, move one counter from your supply onto it.) Supply N (Add N +1/+1 counters to your...

Re: New keyword action: Supply

How about this for reminder text: Supply # (Add number +1/+1 counters to your supply. Whenever a creature enters the battlefield, you may move a counter from your supply onto it.) It's a smidge more flavorful and flexible. I'd argue that's less flavorful. Why are you supplying creatures on your opp...

Re: extend your favourite m:tg set!

There was a cycle of rare creatures in Khans of Tarkir that all seem to be designed to cater to Spikes. Butcher of the Horde , Siege Rhino , Mantis Rider , Savage Knuckleblade ... and Kheru Lich Lord . As you can see, Sultai kind of got the short end of the stick: a six-mana 4/4 with an expensive, a...

Re: Nephilim Rising

So I've looked into the rules and it turns out I was wrong: a face-down card can be given other characteristics by the spell or ability that turned it face-down, as can be seen on the card Tezzeret, Cruel Machinist . Faceless could be used to make 2-mana 1/1's. That being said, I think face-down 1/1...

Re: Nephilim Rising

Faceless doesn't work as a mechanic. The rules of the game define a face-down card as a 2/2 creature with no name, creature types, or abilities, regardless of the mechanic that put it there.

Re: Imperial Tariff/Imperial Lenience

As for the second ability: You're right about red is capable of breaking color pie because opponents make a choice, and it's almost always punishment via damage, white on the other hand does it by "offering" people things, such as Armistice , Truce , and Debt of Loyalty . With that in min...

Re: New keyword action: Supply

Would it work if the counters were put on you? Supply 1 (You gain a supply counter. Whenever a creature ETB, you may remove a supply counter to add a +1/+1 counter to it.) Edit: Oh they are on you. On your supply just confused me. Why don't you just say on you? You gain 8 supply counters. I initial...

Re: If you could make one change in Commander...

Mtenda Lion is still a multi colored card. Beseech the Queen is now a colorless card. And is still confusing because I can run it in a deck that can't run blue cards but it still gets countered with Red Elemental Blast . There are a few edge-case cards like Mtenda Lion and Quenchable Fire that shou...

Re: If you could make one change in Commander...

The last sentence sets up the deck restriction as being only cards in your CI, but the sentence right before that basically gives you the freedom to ignore mana symbols you don't want to include. That same sentence also redefines the color of a card, as I'm reading it (the color is considered to be...

Re: If you could make one change in Commander...

Rules text is defined specifically to be only within the text box of any card, so you effectively turned every card without mana symbols in their rules text to colorless "identity". That can't be correct. The specific wording of the current rule is "a card's colour identity is its co...

Re: If you could make one change in Commander...

I don't like this proposal for two reasons: The first is that you're giving every deck access to ~30 2cmc mana rock accelerants. Second, the wording to legalize off-color hybrid mana doesn't make sense because the two sentences seem to contradict each other. edit: whoops, didn't realize I was logge...

Re: If you could make one change in Commander...

I'd change Rule 2 to read as follows: A card's colour identity is the colour of any mana symbols in the card's rules text that don't add mana as a mana ability. A card's color identity is established before the game begins, and cannot be changed by game effects. Mana symbols with more than one colou...

Re: Hybrid mana

"Say it with me, 'colorless isn't a color!'" - Mark Rosewater, like 50 million times. And again, for the last time, the actual philosophy is the same as it has ALWAYS been: to restrict decks to only cards within the color identity of the general. We saw it in the very beginning of the for...

Re: Hybrid mana

(Yeah, the Westvale Abbey mistake was pointed out to me, I don't know why I had it in my head that Kaalia wasn't black. You get where I was going though, even if you disagree.) No, my sticking point is that a) from a rules standpoint Worm Harvest IS a green and black card at every natural point in ...

Re: Hybrid mana

Ok, but EDH was fully a thing when all of these scenarios presented themselves (except for maybe not Relentless Rats), and the RC has consistently applied the rules: do what is in line with the rules of Magic. This is one of the reasons they did away with Rule 4 (off color mana generation), because...

Re: Hybrid mana

I am aware that there is like a 99% chance that it will never change. I am aware how the RC is against changing this. I am not asking for reanimator to have access to all colors it was just an off the top of my head suggestion that could maybe allow hybrid mana in. Honestly, I think most of the rul...

Re: Hybrid mana

This just makes EDH less flavorful for a few playable cards. Beseech the Queen is always going to be the card that breaks this idea. This cannot be played in Mono-Green in EDH, nor should it be. 'Basic Magic Rules' would allow this, and its against the spirit you speak of. If Beseech is a problem, ...

Hybrid mana

When determining color identity, players should be allowed to choose the color(s) of hybrid mana costs in their deck. Examples: Fracturing Gust has the identity of either green, white, or Selesnya and can be played in any deck that is green or white. Yasova Dragonclaw has the identity of either Sim...
