Re: Golos, ETB Pilgrim - Value Town

I do assume though that you are reference Sylvan Library and not Survival of the Fittest in the examples you cite? That's exactly what I meant. That's what I get for typing up a response while half paying attention to a meeting. :P So I've settled on Omnath, Locus of Creation. Hardly the most casua...

Re: Golos, ETB Pilgrim - Value Town

The way I see it, there are a few problems with Panharmonicon . A little too expensive for the effect, does nothing if you play it after your creatures, does nothing on its own. It's not a bad card, it's not good enough for me to be willing to include. That said, I wouldn't personally include Telepo...

Re: Golos, ETB Pilgrim - Value Town

Has anyone from this thread been keeping up their decklist since the Golos ban? What did you switch to and have there been any other definite ETB creatures that have been printed that have worked your way into the list? At the moment I've decided to move my Esper[sym=w][sym=u][sym=b] Aminatou blink...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Isshin, Two Heavens as One seems easily breakable. Weird seeing the ability going from Gruul with Wulfgar to mardu It's actually an even better ability than Wulfgar of Icewind Dale , because Isshin, Two Heavens as One doubles your triggers from opponents attacking as well, so for example something ...

Re: Golos, ETB Pilgrim - Value Town

If I were to go back to just Bant, the black and red cards I'd be losing are: Deathrite Shaman Dockside Extortionist Omnath, Locus of Creation Aminatou, the Fateshifter Vampiric Tutor Assassin's Trophy Demonic Tutor Villainous Wealth Mythos of Snapdax Most of those are relatively easy to replace wit...

Re: Golos, ETB Pilgrim - Value Town

For what it's worth, I switched my own Golos over to Kenrith. I swapped Kenrith from the 99 and added in Seedborn Muse in Kenrith's place along with the Training Grounds I had in my binder. But, I also have a playgroup who plays super casually and probably wouldn't mind Golos as a Commander, so I s...

Re: Golos, ETB Pilgrim - Value Town

So what's the future for this deck now that Golos got the ban hammer? Are you going to go back to Derevi or something else entirely? Honest answer? I've already been on the fence about quitting this format altogether for a while, and the Golos ban is kinda pushing me further into that direction. As...

Re: Topical Discussion of the Official Multiplayer Ban List

Well, I had already stopped playing for a few months, but now any desire I may have had to start playing again is pretty much dead, so that's cool. Thanks for saving my wallet, RC. :)

Re: Golos, ETB Pilgrim - Value Town

Some new goodies on Modern Horizons 2 with potential for this deck.
Off the top of my head, the ones that have caught my eye for consideration here so far are:
Solitude
Archon of Cruelty
Endurance
Damn

Re: SCD: Golos, Tired-Ass Pilgrim

I don't disagree with that last sentiment. 4-5 colours isn't special anymore, it's just the better thing to do. Unless you're directly building around a specific strong or cool commander ability on a commander that has fewer colours, it's just going to be better to play one of the do-it-all 4-5 colo...

Re: Golos, ETB Pilgrim - Value Town

Beledros Witherbloom is a sweet card and is probably going into my Korvold, Fae-Cursed King deck, whenever I update that, but I'm not sure I'd want it here. The untap is strong, and yes it's nice to be able to just reset life with Resolute Archangel , but I'm wary of bumping the average CMC of the ...

So uh, I guess Champions of Archery is a thing now?
It's one of those heroes of the realm cards that aren't legal anywhere
Ah, yes, so it is. Silly.

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Secret Rendezvous looks great in UB control decks running Hullbreacher and Narset, Parter of Veils , and outside that it offers some political possibilities and interacts well with Smothering Tithe . It's a start. Also Notion Thief and Alms Collector . But then, Wheel effects also interact favourab...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

It's pretty basic, but Fracture will definitely see plenty of play. Never as a first choice for spot removal, but somewhere around slot 5+.

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Ecological Appreciation seems pretty gross. I'm not terribly invested in the exercise, but I'm sure the gifted/inspired among us will figure out a way to make it foolproof shortly. Cheating the unchosen straight into play is a fair trade for the loss of agency, I think. I accidentally hit the "...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

That said, I think Verdant Mastery could see some solid play. It's a bit late game for a lot of metas, but I think it'll do work, especially with the reduced cost mechanic. Neat stuff! Verdant Mastery looks like a neat card, but I can't imagine there are many decks where I'd choose to play that ove...

Re: SCD: Golos, Tired-Ass Pilgrim

We've had to re-instate the house rule of scooping at sorcery speed as so many will scoop in response for no reason beyond denying resources and kingmaking. In a multiplayer format I believe scooping at instant speed is unhealthy for the game. Yeah, that sort of spite was a very big thing in my gro...

Re: SCD: Golos, Tired-Ass Pilgrim

I think onering may have read some of the math incorrectly, but even disregarding that, I'm not saying that hitting a land and two utility spells is a whiff. I'm saying when I hit land, Counterspell , and like Beast Within or something, that is absolutely a whiff. Odds are good that I've just spent ...

Re: SCD: Golos, Tired-Ass Pilgrim

Modifying my deck to have a heavier top end would, 1) make the deck worse whenever I can't use Golos, 2) mess with stuff like my Birthing Pod / Eldritch Evolution curve, and 3) make a few things, like Sun Titan , slightly worse. And at best this would improve the numbers by a few percentage points. ...

Re: SCD: Golos, Tired-Ass Pilgrim

Counting getting rid of lands off the top of your deck and letting you play them if you sequence correctly as 'whiffs' seems wrong to me. As mentioned even a tiny amount of topdeck manipulation rapidly gets bananas. You would not play a card that said something like, " 7 : Exile the top 3 card...
