Ombru usually die from meddling in dark arts due to their immunity from the plague.

I love the design, but you'll need a small template change. The replacement ability wouldn't remove the lethal damage that's on the creature, and you'd have some very odd interactions if that creature's toughness was reduced to 0. Instead, the creature needs to die and come back:
